The Opportunity
We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Purchasing Agent to support EPD's procurement operations and ensure materials are available to meet production and project requirements. This role is responsible for managing purchase orders, maintaining vendor relationships, supporting inventory accuracy, and coordinating procurement activities across Supply Chain, Production, Project Management, and Accounting teams. What You'll Do
Procurement & Purchasing Support
- Prepare and release purchase orders for inventory, production, sales orders, and subcontracted services.
- Monitor material demand and procurement requirements using MRP systems and ERP tools.
- Obtain vendor acknowledgments and maintain accurate due dates and purchasing records.
- Utilize preferred suppliers and approved sourcing strategies to optimize cost and performance.
- Support procurement initiatives that ensure material availability and production continuity.
Vendor Management & Supplier Coordination
Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers and service providers.
- Monitor supplier performance related to quality, pricing, responsiveness, and delivery.
- Expedite open purchase orders to ensure vendors meet committed delivery dates.
- Coordinate supplier priorities during material shortages and supply chain disruptions.
- Assist with subcontracted service procurement activities, including outside processing vendors.
Inventory & ERP Management
Maintain and update purchasing and inventory information within Global Shop Solutions (GSS).
- Support inventory accuracy through ERP maintenance and cycle count coordination.
- Analyze purchasing trends, pricing, order frequency, and consumption data.
- Generate reports and procurement metrics that support operational decision-making.
- Help identify opportunities for inventory optimization and replenishment improvements.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
Partner with Production, Planning, Project Management, Sales, Engineering, and Warehouse teams.
- Resolve purchase order discrepancies and material availability concerns.
- Support Accounting with invoice and procurement-related issues.
- Participate in replenishment strategy reviews including Kanban, Reorder Point, and MRP initiatives.
- Communicate procurement risks, opportunities, and supplier updates to leadership.
Continuous Improvement & Compliance
Follow established procurement policies, procedures, and operational standards.
- Support sustainability and cost-saving initiatives across the supply chain.
- Recommend process improvements and technology enhancements that improve purchasing efficiency.
- Maintain accurate procurement documentation and reporting.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives that support organizational growth.
What You Bring
High School Diploma or GED required.
- 2+ years of purchasing, procurement, planning, or supply chain experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Experience with ERP systems and Material Requirements Planning (MRP).
- Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and vendor relationship management abilities.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office applications.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain, or related field.
- Experience with Global Shop Solutions (GSS), SAP, or similar ERP systems.
- Knowledge of Kanban, Reorder Point, and inventory replenishment methodologies.
- Experience supporting electrical manufacturing or industrial operations.
- Demonstrated success supporting cost reduction and process improvement initiatives.
