Staff Technical Writer

Element Biosciences is seeking an experienced Staff Technical Writer who has a passion for supporting customers with clear and concise documentation that is accurate, well-structured, and easy to navigate. The best candidate for this position is comfortable in a fast-paced environment and can adjust workload priorities as requirements shift. This candidate understands the value of effective communication and teamwork, operates with a focus on quality and the user experience, and maintains a forward-looking, positive attitude. This full-time role is based in San Diego and reports to the Manager of Technical Communications.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
- Create and maintain comprehensive user content for next-generation sequencing (NGS) and single cell biology systems
- Collaborate with product marketing, product development, and field support teams to understand product features and user interaction, determine documentation requirements, and collect input for topics most relevant to users
- Work cross-functionally to establish schedules and ensure that instructions align with lab practices and workflow guidelines
- Work efficiently within defined technical writing processes to ensure consistent branding, maintain version control, and produce quality content that promotes customer satisfaction
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in life sciences or related experience
- A minimum of 7 years as a technical writer
- Writing experience must include topic-based documentation methods and writing for a global audience
- Must understand usability guidelines and best practices for writing comprehensive user guides and quick reference guides
- Technical understanding of NGS and bioinformatics
- Understanding of single cell analysis and industry trends a plus
- Successful experience working in a fast-paced, results-driven environment
- Experience using XML-based documentation tools, such as MadCap Flare, and Adobe tools, such as Acrobat, InDesign, and Illustrator

Base Compensation Pay Range:
- $119,000 - $156,000
In addition to base compensation noted above, you will be eligible for stock options, discretionary annual bonus, no cost health insurance plans, 401k with company match, and flexible paid time off.
Please note: Base compensation will depend on multiple factors, including geographic location, qualifications, and experience.
