District Sales Manager

We are seeking an experienced District Sales Manager will build and lead our sales team in the French and BeNeLux regions. This role will be responsible for leading the execution of Element Biosciences’ commercial strategies, ensuring budgeted annual sales are met within designated territories and the district. This is an incredible opportunity for someone who has a strong desire to “win” and build customer relationships. We are looking for candidates with a solid background in developing sales professionals, commercial sales and strong genetics and NGS knowledge. Experience with capital equipment sales and living in the French region is a must. This role will report to the General Manager, EMEA and will be a remote role based in the French region.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

  • Develop, implement, and monitor the district business plan to meet assigned revenue and strategic objectives
  • Responsible for the direction, support, and motivation of the district sales team to meet agreed targets and objectives
  • Establish territory quotas and achieve the quarterly and annual sales and profit plan as assigned
  • Routinely forecast, monitor, and control selling and other expenses for the district within assigned expense budgets
  • Routinely and accurately forecast customer demand (i.e., product quantities and dollars, orders, shipments)
  • Ensure that sales staff achieves their forecasts, follows company guidelines/practices/policies, and provide timely development plans to correct for underperformance
  • Possesses a deep understanding of the NGS and Multiomics landscape
  • Coordinates and communicates strategic business plans effectively to the team
  • Develops and manages the strategic sales plans and activities in the district
  • Responsible for ensuring that Element Biosciences’ commitment to customer satisfaction is performed, delivered, and constantly improved
  • Drive a high level of interaction and engagement between other departments (e.g., Marketing, Customer Services) and local sales team & staff to ensure coordination of activities and alignment on common goals
  • Responsible for the recruitment, development, retention, and management of the district sales team
  • Create a sense of urgency and drive accountability within the regional team to meet both financial and strategic goals
  • Coordinate and/or supervise technical/sales/administrative training for the district sales team
  • Monitor, assist, set standards, and evaluate the district sales team performance utilizing Element Biosciences’ performance management tools
  • Responsible for ensuring Salesforce.com (SFDC) is completely utilized, updated, and compliant with company policies and practices

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree is required, preferably in Biology / Genetics or Master’s degree or Ph.D. in Biology / Genetics preferred
  • 7+ years of experience in a Life Science laboratory, Sales role, or a related field with customer-facing experience
  • Strong leadership and team development experience
  • Strong Genetics and Molecular Biology foundation
  • Experience with strategic sales skills with proven ability to develop and grow key accounts is preferred
  • Conducts presentations effectively, professionally and comfortably to customers/peers/management
  • Preferred knowledge of Next Generation Sequencing and Genotyping method
  • A demonstrated desire to be an effective collaborator within a team selling environment
  • Strong desire to “win” and build customer relationships
  • French and English speaking and third language is preferable

Physical Requirements:

  • Frequently moves boxes weighing up to 20 pounds
  • Must be flexible in working hours as this position may require customer support during non-regular business hours

  • Remote – France required

Travel: 

  • Domestic and International travel up to 50%

In addition to base compensation noted above, you will be eligible for stock options, sales commission and other competitive factors in the overall total rewards package.
