Eliot Community Human Services, Inc., a nonprofit organization based in Lexington, is seeking a skilled and reliable First Aid and CPR Instructor to provide high-quality First Aid, CPR, and AED training services. This is a contract-based role designed for experienced instructors who are passionate about safety education and capable of delivering engaging, standards-compliant training sessions. The Consultant will work closely with the Agency to support community health initiatives by conducting in-person and blended learning trainings for program participants.
The ideal candidate will have strong instructional experience in First Aid and CPR training, with the ability to confidently lead both adult and pediatric sessions. They will be detail-oriented, organized, and responsive, ensuring timely reporting and adherence to certification standards. Flexibility is important, as trainings may occur during evenings or weekends, and the Consultant must be comfortable working independently as a contractor while maintaining professionalism and accountability.
This role is best suited for candidates located in the southeastern region of Massachusetts, as trainings will primarily be conducted in that area. The vast majority of work will take place in various libraries, DCF offices, community centers, etc. across the region.
Responsibilities:
- Deliver instructor-led and blended learning First Aid, CPR, and AED training sessions for adult and pediatric audiences
- Ensure all trainings meet standards set by the American Red Cross or the Health and Safety Institute
- Conduct up to two (2) training sessions per month based on Agency needs
- Accurately record attendance and course completion information and submit reports within 24 hours
- Submit detailed, itemized invoices on a monthly basis
- Adhere strictly to approved curriculum, training practices, and Agency policies
- Complete all required onboarding documentation, including background checks (e.g., CORI) and tax forms
Qualifications:
- Current certification as a First Aid, CPR, and AED Instructor through the American Red Cross and/or the Health and Safety Institute preferred
- Demonstrated experience delivering CPR and First Aid training sessions strongly preferred
- Candidates with current certifications and prior instructional experience are highly desirable; however, motivated applicants without current certifications are encouraged to apply and may be considered based on relevant experience and willingness to obtain certification
- Strong communication and presentation skills
- Ability to manage time effectively and meet reporting deadlines
- Willingness to travel to training locations (mileage reimbursed per Agency policy)
- Availability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends
- Ability to work independently as an independent contractor
Compensation:
- $300 per full in-person class, plus mileage reimbursement at the rate established by the Agency
- $200 per blended learning in-person session, plus mileage reimbursement at the rate established by the Agency
Schedule: Two (2) trainings per month. Trainings may be scheduled on weekends and/or evenings.
