Job Description:
Our Director of Cloud Operations will play a key role in driving the strategic direction and operational excellence of our cloud infrastructure, supporting the reliability, scalability, and security of our SaaS platform. This remote position is ideal for a proactive, technically skilled leader who excels at aligning cloud strategy with business goals. The role involves leading a high-performing team, implementing DevOps and SRE best practices, and ensuring continuous improvement in performance, security, and cost optimization.
What You’ll Do:
- Define and execute the long-term vision and roadmap for cloud operations in alignment with business objectives.
- Oversee the design, deployment, and maintenance of scalable and secure cloud infrastructure.
- Lead the adoption and implementation of Infrastructure as Code (IaC) practices using tools like Terraform.
- Drive automation across provisioning, configuration, monitoring, and incident response workflows.
- Ensure high availability and disaster recovery across all environments.
- Establish and monitor SLAs, SLOs, and KPIs for system performance and uptime.
- Lead incident management processes, including root cause analysis and continuous improvement.
- Collaborate with security and compliance teams to ensure adherence to regulatory standards.
- Manage vendor relationships and cloud spend, focusing on cost optimization.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support the overall goals and objectives of the company.
What You’ll Need:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- 10+ years of experience in IT infrastructure or cloud operations, including 5+ years in a leadership role.
- Proven experience managing large-scale, production-grade SaaS environments.
- Deep expertise in at least one major cloud platform (AWS, Azure, or GCP); multi-cloud experience is a plus.
- Strong understanding of DevOps practices and tools (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab CI/CD, Docker, Kubernetes).
- Experience with monitoring, logging, and alerting tools such as SolarWinds or Datadog.
- Familiarity with security and compliance standards such as SOC 2, ISO 27001, and GDPR.
- Demonstrated leadership ability, including building and mentoring high-performing technical teams.
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and project management skills.
- Cloud certifications and/or experience with FinOps principles are a plus.
