The Role 

The GTM (Go-To-Market) Network at a16z connects our portfolio companies with the global enterprise ecosystem. We provide strategic go-to-market expertise while delivering cutting-edge innovation to decision-makers across the Fortune 500, government agencies, and hyperscalers.

Leveraging one of the most robust C-level executive networks in the world, we facilitate high-impact relationships and real-time market insights to help our portfolio companies build credibility, refine offerings, and accelerate time to revenue. We drive this through curated executive briefings, private dinners, and tailored events that promote engagement, learning, and opportunity.

Our team comprises seasoned professionals from sales, consulting, growth marketing, and business development. We serve as trusted advisors—partnering closely with portfolio leaders to shape their GTM strategies, make meaningful introductions, and scale revenue-generating partnerships.

This role requires an exceptionally detail-oriented individual who thrives in fast-paced, time-sensitive situations and has excellent critical thinking skills. The ideal candidate excels in coordination and time management, can change direction quickly, handle multiple projects simultaneously, and consistently executes with precision. They build trust and establish relationships quickly with key stakeholders.

  • Act as the primary Menlo Park on-site contact for assigned executive briefings and events. The role will need to collaborate with cross-functional teams to conceptualize, plan, and execute a range of events such as executive briefings, dinners, small receptions and virtual briefings with C-level executives, portfolio companies, the network, and a16z partners. 
  • Manage all aspects of small event planning logistics, such as arranging meeting spaces, catering, venues, vendor sourcing, shipping, materials, and audio/visual equipment. 
  • Execute day-of event logistics for briefings and small events. Responsibilities include overseeing room setups, catering, making sure audio-visual requirements are met, managing virtual meetings, and other event logistics and on-site troubleshooting. 
  • Partner with leadership on assigned events to develop plans, ensuring clarity on deliverables, timelines, roles, and responsibilities. 
  • Keep network and portfolio company contacts updated in SalesForce.

The preferred location for this role is Menlo Park, CA, with frequent presence in San Francisco, CA. This role requires an in-office presence 2-5 days per week depending on the week, plus occasional travel to support events as needed.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience 
  • 2-4 years of events experience 
  • Excel in fast-paced, high-stakes environments
  • Previous experience in hospitality or high-touch client service is a strong plus
  • Proven experience with food & beverage coordination, venue sourcing, contract negotiation, and vendor management
  • Exceptional attention to detail with strong organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to handle multiple concurrent projects and shift priorities quickly as needs evolve 
  • Proactive and solutions-oriented, with the ability to anticipate needs and address potential issues before they arise. Stays calm and levelheaded under pressure
  • Hands on experience using Google Workspace, Salesforce, and Zoom 
  • Focused on continuous learning and a growth mindset 
  • Exceptional communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills, with a focus on detail and executive presence 
  • Ability to travel to US based events as needed
  • Low ego, high empathy, and the capacity to collaborate effectively with diverse teams 

The anticipated salary range for this role is between $108,000 - $126,000, actual starting pay may vary based on a range of factors which can include experience, skills, and scope.

This role is eligible to participate in the a16z carry program and various discretionary bonus programs as well as benefit and perquisite plans including health, dental, vision, disability, life insurance, 401K plan, vacation, and sick leave.
