About AgZen
AgZen is tackling two of agriculture’s biggest challenges: waste and pollution.
Each year, billions are spent on pesticides and fertilizers, yet most never reach the crops - resulting in costly waste and significant environmental harm. We’re changing that. By using advanced AI, computer vision, and fluid dynamics, AgZen optimizes chemical application in real time, reducing input use, minimizing pollution, and protecting both yields and ecosystems.
Founded out of MIT and backed by $13.5M in funding, our multidisciplinary team of AI, engineering, and ag science experts is redefining sustainable farming with breakthrough technology. We’re not just improving agriculture, we’re reimagining what’s possible.
If you're fueled by innovation and resilience, join us in tackling global challenges with real-world impact and a no-limits mindset!

About the Role
At AgZen, you’ll be joining a multidisciplinary engineering team that includes hardware, electrical, and software engineers working together to transform traditional agricultural practices. Our mission centers on retrofitting existing sprayers with advanced technology that enables smarter pesticide use through data collection and real-time insights.
As part of the software team, which spans everything from firmware to computer vision to general software engineering, you’ll help design, build, and maintain the user-facing applications that run directly on sprayers around the world, as well as our cloud portal that enables folks to review and interact with their data. Your work will support a wide range of users, from internal team members to farmers and potential business partners, helping them better understand and optimize chemical usage in agriculture.
What You'll Do
- Ship real features, fast! Design, build, test, and deploy changes in hours, not weeks, without layers of red tape.
- Work across the full stack, from embedded code on field equipment to cloud services and user-facing web apps and learn the whole thing hands-on.
- Collaborate on features sparked by teammates, company leadership, and real customer needs - then watch your work get used in the field in real time.
- Get direct exposure to customers and see how your code performs live over satellite connections in actual farming environments.
- Test your work in a hardware-equipped lab that simulates real-world conditions — no waiting on others to see results.
- Push the limits of what’s possible with edge computing by creating the most user-friendly touch interface in modern agriculture tech.
What We're Looking For
- A bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- Proven software development experience through internships or co-ops.
- Interest and flexibility to work across both frontend and backend technologies — we’re looking for curious generalists eager to grow.
- Strong proficiency in JavaScript (we use TypeScript and React).
- Familiarity with a backend language such as Python, Java, or Go is strongly preferred.
- Willingness to learn new tools, dive into unfamiliar systems, and take ownership of real-world problems.
- Alignment with our mission — we value teammates who care about sustainability and want to make a real impact in agriculture and the environment.
