Associate Scientist II – Technology Access Program

Fremont, California

At Alamar, we are passionate about enabling our customers to make scientific discoveries that translate into clinical outcomes and benefit patients. Our team is growing quickly as we develop innovative approaches to measure critical protein biomarkers from liquid samples that can enable the earliest possible detection of disease. We believe the next frontier in biology is enabled by measuring proteins at higher sensitivity in highly multiplexed assays at the push of a button, which is something only Alamar can do. As we build our team, we seek collaborative, driven, intellectually curious people committed to solving complex challenges. Our culture rewards accountability and cross functional teamwork because we believe this enables the kind of breakthrough thinking that will accelerate our mission.

We seek a highly motivated Associate Scientist II to join a dynamic team of professionals in the Technology Access team to support our company mission. In this role, you will support the development, optimization, characterization, and execution of NULISA-based immunoassays and multiplex proteomic panels across diverse disease areas, from early feasibility through customer sample testing as part of the Technology Access Program. The ideal candidate will bring strong hands-on immunoassay execution skills, a solid foundation in data analysis, and the operational discipline that multiplex work demands: managing many reagents and samples at once, keeping complex experiments organized and traceable, and delivering reliable data on tight timelines.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and optimize multiplex proteomic panels, including NULISAseq and custom biopharma panels, to support biomarker discovery, validation, and translational research.
  • Design, conduct, and analyze single-plex NULISA immunoassays across diverse biological matrices, optimizing sensitivity, specificity, and detectability.
  • Characterize assay performance for targets, including calibration curves, LLOQ, precision, dilution linearity, spike recovery, and parallelism.
  • Manage reagent logistics for panels with up to thousands of components, including inventory, lot tracking, aliquoting, storage, and stability, in coordination with Manufacturing and R&D.
  • Analyze PCR and NGS datasets, prepare reports, and present results to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Troubleshoot technical issues through root-cause analysis across reagent, instrument, sample, and operator factors.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to deliver projects on time and contribute to strategic discussions.
  • Explore new NULISA applications, cultivate KOL collaborations, and prepare abstracts and posters for scientific conferences.

Skills & Requirements:

  • Master’s degree in Immunology, Neuroscience, Biochemistry, or a related discipline with 1+ years of industrial immunoassay development experience. A B.S. degree with 3+ experience may also be considered.
  • Hands-on experience in executing and optimizing immunoassays such as ELISA. Experience with high-sensitivity platforms (Simoa, MSD, or Luminex) is a plus but not required.
  • Hands-on experience with generating and analyzing PCR and NGS sequencing datasets is highly preferred.
  • Strong understanding of proteomics and biomarker research.
  • Ability to manage multiple complex projects under tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team environment.
  • Knowledge of emerging reagents, immunoassay technologies, biomarker discovery, assay prototyping, performance optimization, and control system design.
  • Ability to disseminate and summarize scientific literature to a broad interdisciplinary audience.

The base salary range for this full-time position is $97,000 - $115,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by work location, job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
