What you’ll do

The PMD Recruiting Director - EMEA is a new, highly visible, and critical role on AlixPartners’ Executive Recruiting team. Reporting to the Global Head, Executive Recruiting, you will lead the executive recruiting team and function in EMEA, covering the UK, DACH, Italy, France, and the Middle East, focused on Partner (non-equity) and Partner & Managing Director (equity) candidates. You will set the strategy for this dynamic function, create trust-based executive stakeholder relationships, implement best practices, mentor and develop the team, and personally manage multiple searches and candidate relationships.

An important focus of this role is building trusted relationships with the highly matrixed EMEA leadership team, including regional and country leaders, and heads of Practices, Industries, and Service Lines. In addition, this role will often work with global leaders in the Americas and APAC. Strong communication skills, coupled with first-hand knowledge of local or country employment laws and customs, are very important.

This role will be a culture carrier for the team and function, reinforcing a forward-looking, inclusive, collaborative, and creative work environment. You will create strong connections with candidates, helping guide them through a rigorous process with care and excellent communication. We do not “sell” candidates on joining AlixPartners; we guide them and our colleagues on making the best decision for everyone.

This role is part of a close-knit global team that works across EMEA, APAC and the Americas, and has an opportunity to work across and provide guidance to all regions. At its core, this role will work closely with the global executive recruitment team, candidates, and stakeholders to ensure all parties experience a caring, inclusive, efficient, and high-quality recruitment process. You will also oversee elements of the executive onboarding experience, in partnership with the People, Office, and IT teams. The role is vital to making sure everyone has the information they need, when they need it, while providing a seamless, thoughtful experience for all parties. In addition, you will play a meaningful role in ensuring our systems and processes work effectively and efficiently - and are compliant with firm policies and local laws and customs.

AlixPartners is committed to our people’s growth, development, and career progression. This role will be a key part of facilitating our forward-facing and collaborative culture. It is located in London, Munich, Dusseldorf, or Berlin. Paid relocation is not available. Occasional travel may be expected.

 Additionally, you will:

  • Oversee and perpetually improve the candidate experience, from their first introduction to AlixPartners to their onboarding process.
  • Mentor and develop the EMEA recruiting team, including recruiters, researchers, and coordinators, maintain an engaging, developmental, forward-looking, and fun work environment.
  • Partner with the Global Head of Executive recruiting on performance, budget, workflow, external search firm partnerships, and special projects.
  • Own key searches end-to-end, including research, candidate outreach, interview process (prep emails, debriefs, stakeholder alignment, etc.), evaluations, and candidate write-ups.
  • Facilitate the development of and write the long-form, detailed business cases for final-stage PMD candidates, which are evaluated by the CEOs and Board of Directors. This process involves complex candidate and senior stakeholder alignment and management and requires a knowledge of the key drivers for a consulting organization.
  • Vet and review / finalize contracts and relationships with contingent and retained external search firms, with a keen eye to the firm’s reputation, candidate’s experience, and relevant budgets.
  • Ensure recruiting data is collected, recorded, and documented in a timely, confidential, and legally compliant manner.
  • Be a “super user” of our current CRM tool, currently Greenhouse, finding ways to optimize the application to enhance the candidate experience, data management, scheduling, and reporting.
  • Additional responsibilities as identified. This description is not designed to encompass a comprehensive listing of required activities, duties, or responsibilities.

What you’ll need

  • Problem solving – able to anticipate opportunities and obstacles - and react / plan accordingly in a calm and engaging manner that maintains a motivated team and engages leaders.
  • A player / coach orientation, with experience leading geographically dispersed teams and colleagues through multiple, sometimes competing priorities and projects, taking on work as needed to meet goals and objectives.
  • A formidable knowledge of the consulting and related candidate pool landscape, including exec consulting firms or all sizes working across Restructuring, Advisory and Risk.
  • Strong understanding of the core business drivers and executive considerations within a consulting or similar professional services organization, including utilization, client management, commercials, cultural alignment, etc.
  • A strong orientation to develop and motivate a team; creative, consultative, constructive, collegial, and skilled at providing feedback and praise.
  • An eye to detail, especially in written communications, reports, and presentations.
  • Experience leading an executive search team / function in EMEA within a consulting or professional services organization, with depth in research, and candidate outreach and cultivation, offer negotiations, and onboarding.
  • Experience working in an executive search firm is strongly preferred.
  • A passion for prose - a proven ability to write concise, action oriented, clear executive communications, reports, and executive / Board-ready documents.
  • A strong sense of ownership - holds oneself personally accountable for the team’s success and opportunities for improvement.
  • Excellent client-service orientation - able to influence, present to, and successfully collaborate with a range of executive stakeholders across a complex matrix. You understand their motivations and goals, and operate as their executive search subject matter expert.
  • Excellent organization and time management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and adapt to changing circumstances.
  • Ability to work independently to drive multiple, shifting priorities with a strong sense of urgency.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English. Fluency in German, French and/or Italian considered a plus.
  • A sense of humor and humility.
  • Proficiency in MS PowerPoint, Teams, Word, and Excel.
  • Ability to travel, as required.
  • Ability to work full time in an office and remote environment; physically able to sit/stand at a computer and work in front of a computer screen for significant portions of the workday.
  • Willingness to work outside of normal business hours, as needed and in particular as unique projects/needs arise.
  • Must become familiar with, and promote and abide by, our Core Values as defined by the AlixPartners’ Code of Conduct and foster an inclusive environment with people at all levels of an organization.
