Platform Engineer P3 (3-6 years experience)

At Anaplan, we are looking for a Platform Engineer to join our Environment Tooling team. The team is responsible for building, owning, and operating the platform infrastructure and non-production environments that enable engineers to develop, test, and deliver services to production with speed, safety, and reliability. As a mid-senior individual contributor, you will be part of a collaborative team of five engineers reporting to the team engineering manager.

You will play a key role in delivering our environments strategy, shifting Anaplan away from shared development environments toward reproducible, automated local and ephemeral environments.

As well as this, you will take ownership of the health of our remaining shared non-production environments, maintain our Argo CD deployment architecture, oversee secrets management using Vault, and establish resilient, code-driven governance for feature flagging that delivers lasting value.

Your Impact...

  • Empower engineering teams: Collaborate in a cross-functional team to build and operate tools, frameworks, and platforms that improve developer experience, platform scalability, and security for hundreds of engineers
  • Shape the future of environments: Contribute to the design, implementation, and roll-out of our next-generation environments strategy, helping transition engineering teams to automated, code-defined local and remote ephemeral environments
  • Champion environment health: Take collective ownership of our non-production environments, ensuring platform service health and acting as a trusted first port of call for engineering support and troubleshooting
  • Scale deployment & configuration infrastructure: Contribute to the maintenance and architectural evolution of our Argo CD deployment pipelines, secrets management infrastructure, and feature flagging capabilities
  • Evolve existing platform tooling: Help maintain, refactor, and modernize our existing Go-based tools, APIs, and Kubernetes Operators to eliminate configuration toil and support new platform capabilities by elevating standards
  • Delivering measurable outcomes: Act as a proactive self-starter who takes end-to-end ownership of your work through agile practices, planning, and road mapping, while participating in the team on-call rota

Your Skills...

  • Kubernetes: Experience with Kubernetes in a production or pre-production environment
  • CD & GitOps: Strong practical understanding of continuous delivery pipelines, GitOps workflows, and continuous deployment tooling (specifically Argo CD)
  • Platform-as-a-Product: A passion for treating platform infrastructure as a product, focusing on improving Developer Experience, reducing cognitive load for engineers, and gathering feedback to build highly usable tools
  • Infrastructure as Code: Familiarity with infrastructure-as-code tools, ideally Terraform
  • Secrets management: Experience working with HashiCorp Vault or similar secrets management technologies
  • Resilience & quality mindset: A focus on building fault-tolerant systems, backed by automated testing, golden templates, and clear developer documentation
  • Strong communication: A collaborative mindset with the ability to provide clear guidance, support, best practices and articulate trade-offs clearly to diverse audiences

Bonus Points for…

  • Software engineering: Hands-on development experience in Go (or a similar language)
  • Kubernetes operators: Experience writing, testing, or maintaining Kubernetes Operators and Custom Resource Definitions (CRDs)
  • Feature flagging: Experience administering feature flagging platforms (such as LaunchDarkly)
  • Local development: Experience designing local container-based development workflows
  • Observability: Knowledge of observability platforms such as Grafana, Prometheus, or Loki
