ROLE OVERVIEW 

Astrodyne TDI is seeking a proactive and inquisitive Cost Accountant to support product costing, inventory analysis, and manufacturing variance reporting across a multi-entity environment. Reporting to the Corporate Controller, this role will maintain and improve standard costing methodologies, analyze purchase price and manufacturing variances, support month-end close, and serve as a trusted financial partner to operations. The position is based onsite in Hackettstown, New Jersey, with relocation assistance available. Employment sponsorship is not available. 

WHAT YOU WILL OWN 

  • Deliver accurate and timely reporting for purchase price variance, manufacturing variances, inventory adjustments, and scrap during weekly and month-end close activities. 
  • Maintain, evaluate, and improve standard costing methodologies as manufacturing processes, labor requirements, materials, and product lines evolve. 
  • Analyze purchase price and manufacturing variances, identify root causes, and partner with Supply Chain and Operations to implement corrective actions. 
  • Support inventory analysis, inventory movements, cycle counts, scrap management, and compliance with corporate inventory policies and controls. 
  • Work closely with plant and logistics teams, spending approximately half of your time in the manufacturing environment to understand products and processes. 
  • Serve as a subject-matter resource within Epicor ERP for product costing and support cost accounting activities across global locations. 
  • Communicate financial findings clearly to non-financial partners and translate analysis into practical business recommendations. 
  • Contribute to special projects, process improvements, and the continued development of the cost accounting function as the company grows. 

WHAT YOU BRING - REQUIREMENTS 

  • At least 3 years of cost accounting experience in a multi-entity manufacturing environment. 
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting preferred; directly relevant manufacturing cost accounting experience will also be considered. 
  • Working knowledge of standard costing, actual costing concepts, purchase price variance, manufacturing variances, inventory, and month-end close. 
  • Experience partnering with operations, supply chain, logistics, and manufacturing teams. 
  • Comfort working hands-on in a plant environment and developing a practical understanding of products, parts, labor, and production processes 
  • Experience using ERP systems for costing and inventory. 
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and communicate financial information clearly to non-financial stakeholders. 
  • Self-starter mindset with strong analytical skills, curiosity, energy, and a collaborative approach. 

PREFERRED BACKGROUND 

  • Certified Management Accountant (CMA) designation. 
  • Experience supporting global manufacturing sites or international entities. 
  • Experience with complex, high-mix manufacturing environments involving varied parts, labor content, and product configurations. 
  • Interest in future leadership responsibility as the cost accounting team expands. 

SALARY RANGE 

$105,000-$110,000 annually. Final compensation will be based on relevant experience, qualifications, and business considerations.
