SUMMARY

Our Principal, Sustainability & ESG will help companies seeking to reduce environmental impact, promote ethical sourcing, and ensure sustainability compliance in the supply chain. As a Principal, Sustainability & ESG, you will support professional services deliverables and provide pre and post-sales service support to leverage Avetta’s award-winning supply chain risk management tool to support client sustainability goals.

This role combines consultative support and selling, client-facing relationship building, and advisory solutions to drive sustainable supply chain compliance and continuous improvement for over 130,000 companies globally. Our Principals understand customer goals and challenges in the supply chain sustainability space and deftly position Avetta as the solution leader. Principals are also responsible for actively developing professional service offerings for client ESG planning and execution, so this role is ideal for innovators looking to apply existing expertise while also designing new client solutions in a rapidly evolving ESG regulatory environment. 

The ideal candidate must be creative and collaborative during external engagements and viewed as a credible advisor to clients and prospects, architecting solutions to address ESG leaders’ organizational goals as well as supplier education and training. Candidates must have exceptional communication skills (both verbal and written), ability to deliver and support presentations, be a self-starter, and have international ESG experience or exposure.

Activities of this position include:

Advisory

  • Utilizing expert knowledge and use cases while communicating with Sustainability, HSE, and Procurement leaders.
  • Advising a variety of client stakeholders across procurement, sustainability, HSE, and other functions on meeting ESG regulatory requirements and managing supply chain sustainability data.

Sales Support

  • Building relationships with prospects, current clients, sales, product, and marketing partners to deliver innovative solutions to sustainable SCRM market needs.
  • Attending key sales calls to articulate our ESG solution fit and capabilities, and advise client on strategic program roll out to meet their current and future reporting and management needs.

Thought Leadership

  • Developing and leading workshops and training sessions with HSE & Procurement stakeholders for clients’ key suppliers to support ESG maturity growth and compliance.
  • Creating content responding to regulatory developments and market events to support clients and suppliers navigating the evolving ESG compliance environment.
  • Serving as an external facing expert for ESG topics, representing Avetta as a dynamic and engaging corporate ambassador (including client virtual and in person engagements, marketing events, client conferences, virtual webinars, etc.).

General

  • Delivering clear and concise advice during presentations, demonstrations, and 1on1s.
  • Serving as the connective tissue between product, marketing, and sales for the ESG product and services development and delivery.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Act as Sustainability & ESG SME for Avetta with a Sales Support & Expert Advisory customer focus.
  • Engage directly with clients and prospects, including senior leadership, to educate them on sustainable supply chain risk management.
  • Support clients with global ESG regulatory compliance including CSRD, CS3D, California Climate Laws SB 253 and 261, etc.
  • Provide thought leadership and innovative solution design while interfacing with ESG leaders.
  • Deliver customer-focused risk evaluation and assessment services and products.
  • Lead technical discussions and round tables with ESG professionals.
  • Develop unique content for ESG buyers and customers.
  • Serve as an expert on competitive advantage specific to ESG.
  • Understand key regional players and how they are positioned.
  • Provide expert SME support by attending conferences, industry groups, and client-driven affairs.
  • Perform additional assigned tasks as directed.
  • Willingness to travel (domestic and international).
  • Flexibility to occasionally operate outside of standard hours, if required.

IDEAL EXPERIENCE:

 

  • 5+ years of professional sustainability strategy experience either in consulting, technology, or in-house.
  • Consulting or client management experience, ESG SaaS business development exposure, and familiarity with global Sustainability reporting a plus.
  • History of working cross-functionally to deliver solutions for clients across advisory, technology, or compliance fields.
  • Clear, demonstrated commitment to sustainability and passion for growing in the industry.
  • Outstanding communication skills, especially in conveying complex technical information to a non-technical audience through workshops, presentations, and sales support calls.
  • Exceptionally strong self-starter, comfortable with ambiguity and able to drive solutions in nascent regulatory and solutions space.
  • Strong understanding of key ESG/Sustainability assessment processes like double materiality, the sustainability business case, and the supply chain’s role in regulatory reporting and risk management.
  • Expertise with Global and Regional ESG Frameworks (CSRD, GRI, UNGC, CDP, ISO, TCFD, etc).
  • Proficient in Climate and GHG issues (including Scope 1, 2, and 3 measurement and management).
  • Familiar with Supply Chain Risk Contractor Management.
  • Ability to create engaging, informative, and comprehensive presentations to drive ESG & Sustainability product and services internally and externally.
  • Exceptional communication skills, including oral, written, and non-verbal communication.
  • Proficiency in the use of various computer applications, including Access, Excel, Outlook, SharePoint, PowerPoint, Web Conferencing Software (e.g. Zoom, Webex, etc.).

 

IDEAL EDUCATION & TRAINING:

  • Bachelor’s Degree required
  • Advanced degree in Business, Environmental Management, or Sustainability Management a plus
  • ISO 14001 or 204000, GRI Professional Certificate, FSA Credential or similar certifications a plus

At Avetta, we are committed to salary transparency to ensure equitable hiring practices and promote trust. The salary range included in this job posting is based on internal and market data and the role's responsibilities. The final compensation offered to a candidate will be determined by several factors, including work location, job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.

The salary range for this position is $98,500 - $137,000 per year, with a potential bonus.

We also offer a comprehensive benefits package, which includes health, dental and vision insurance, 401(k), and PTO.
