Project Accountant

We are seeking a Project Financial Controls Manager to join our Finance team, working closely with Project Managers, discipline leads and senior commercial stakeholders to ensure robust financial governance across live projects.
This role is central to maintaining accurate cost, revenue and cash flow visibility, supporting effective decision-making and ensuring strong financial control throughout the project lifecycle.
You will take ownership of contract financial reporting across assigned projects, with a strong focus on Cost Value Reconciliation (CVR), forecasting, change control and cash flow management. Working in close partnership with Project Managers, you will ensure financial data is accurate, timely and actionable, while also supporting effective contract administration and commercial risk management.
This position suits someone with strong numerical and analytical capability, ideally from a finance, project controls or commercial finance background, with an interest in developing deep knowledge of construction project financials and contract delivery.
Key Objectives:
- Build strong relationships and credibility with PMs for all contracts to enable accurate project reporting and appropriate contract administration
- Work with and assist the SCM with all Commercial team activities including process improvements
- Work closely with the Business Sector & Discipline directors as well as the finance team
Principal Responsibilities:
- Ownership of project financial reporting, including Cost Value Reconciliation (CVR), forecasting and cost-to-complete analysis
- Maintain oversight of project cost, revenue and cash flow performance, ensuring accuracy and transparency
- Support change control and variation processes, ensuring updates are reflected in financial forecasts and reporting
- Produce applications for payment and support invoicing processes, ensuring timely cash collection
- Work closely with Project Managers to challenge assumptions, validate forecasts and improve financial outcomes
- Support contract administration activities, ensuring financial compliance across projects
- Assist in preparation of tender and fee build-ups, including cost modelling and cash flow profiling
- Liaise with internal stakeholders and client commercial teams to support strong financial relationships
- Identify financial risks and opportunities, supporting mitigation and value improvement
- Contribute to process improvement initiatives within the Finance and Project Controls function
- Support year-end audit processes for assigned contracts
- Provide guidance to Project Managers on financial and contractual matters

About You
You will have a strong affinity for numbers and the ability to interpret them, but also be able to build credible relationships across the business with various stakeholders.
- You will have experience/ a background in Commercial or Finance
- Degree qualified or qualified through experience
- You will be willing and able to obtain security clearance

The successful candidate must be able to obtain and maintain the appropriate level of security clearance or assurance level for this role, in line with client and sector requirements.
