Broadmead, Maryland's oldest continuing care retirement community, is seeking a Flex Sous Chef to join our award-winning culinary team and help elevate dining across our vibrant campus.

What You'll Do

As a Flex Sous Chef, you'll serve as a key culinary leader, supporting daily kitchen operations while ensuring exceptional food quality, presentation, and safety standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and oversee food production in accordance with recipes, production schedules, and HACCP regulations
  • Ensure outstanding food quality, consistency, and presentation
  • Assist with menu planning and development for the Arbor Café and Holly Terrace buffet operations
  • Lead and support Hot Cooks, Cold Cooks, and Line Servers during meal service
  • Monitor portion control, plating standards, garnishes, sanitation, and productivity
  • Complete production records, temperature logs, and other required documentation accurately and timely
  • Oversee meal service operations and ensure smooth execution from preparation through closing
  • Conduct performance evaluations for culinary team members
  • Make menu substitutions and operational decisions in the absence of the Chef
  • Maintain compliance with all food safety, sanitation, and workplace safety standards
  • Open and close culinary operations as needed
  • Foster a positive team atmosphere and exceptional internal customer service

What You Bring

  • Previous experience as a Sous Chef, Lead Cook, or culinary supervisor
  • Strong knowledge of food preparation, menu execution, and food safety practices
  • HACCP knowledge and understanding of state and county health regulations
  • Leadership skills with the ability to coach and motivate team members
  • Excellent organizational and communication abilities
  • Flexibility to support multiple dining venues and varying schedules
  • Passion for hospitality, service excellence, and creating memorable dining experiences
