Data Analytics Engineer

We are seeking an experienced Data Analytics Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background in data management, analysis, and visualization within the healthcare sector, with a particular focus on Medicare Advantage and in-home care services. You will be responsible for building, optimizing, and maintaining data pipelines, performing data investigations, and providing insights that empower strategic decision-making across the organization.

Our primary technologies include SQL, Python, BI Platforms (e.g. Tableau, Mode Analytics, etc) and Snowflake. You will collaborate with data analysts, engineers, and healthcare professionals to build tools that improve real people’s health. This role requires extensive experience supporting data warehousing projects and advanced knowledge in data cleansing, ETL, data visualization, and data governance.

 

As a Data Analytics Engineer, you will:

  • Data Engineering & Management: Design, build, and optimize data pipelines within the reporting layer to process and transform large datasets from multiple sources using  DBT, Snowflake SQL, and other relevant technologies.
  • ETL Processes: Develop and maintain ETL workflows, ensuring data is accurately processed, cleaned, and integrated into our systems with a focus on best practices.
  • Data Investigation & Analysis: Work closely with business stakeholders to understand their data needs, conduct root-cause analysis, and provide data-driven solutions. Investigate anomalies in data to ensure high data quality and integrity.
  • Reporting & Data Visualization: Create interactive dashboards and reports using BI tools (e.g., Mode Analytics, Tableau) to visualize key metrics and trends. Ensure data is presented in a clear, actionable format for non-technical stakeholders.
  • DBT Cloud/Core: Implement and maintain data transformation models using DBT (Data Build Tool) framework, ensuring efficient and scalable transformation pipelines.
  • Collaboration & Cross-functional Support: Collaborate with business teams, data scientists, and IT departments to ensure data solutions meet organizational needs.
  • Medicare Advantage Focus: Leverage your understanding of managed care, particularly Medicare Advantage plans, to generate insights into cost management, member health outcomes, utilization, and more.

Success in this role looks like:

  • In the first 90 days:
    • Develop a strong understanding of our existing data ecosystem and pipelines.
    • Build relationships with various stakeholders to understand their day-to-day operations and data needs.
    • Contribute to the design and implementation of new ETL programs to support business growth and operational efficiency.
    • Perform root cause analysis for identified issues and propose solutions for both short-term fixes and long-term improvements to enhance the stability and accuracy of our pipelines.
    • Provide support in generating ad-hoc reporting insights and maintaining established dashboards.
  • In the first 6 months:
    • Provide feedback and propose process improvements for data analytics/engineering operations.
    • Work with platform engineers by monitoring, identifying, and escalating data integrity issues,
    • Provide stakeholders with accurate and insightful reporting that solves their business problems through ad hoc reporting and in-depth dashboards.
    • Lead discussions with key stakeholders and propose, design, and implement new data engineering and analytics projects that solve critical business problems.
  • Long-term success: 
    • Enhance and maintain ETL programs and data assets.
    • Serve as the technical lead for the data engineering squad’s day-to-day operations.
    • Build complex dashboards and ad hoc reporting that span across and connect multiple areas of business.
    • Ensure the accuracy, completeness, and audit-readiness of data used for government regulated reporting.
    • Mentor and guide junior team members.

You should get in touch if:

  • You have a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field and 5+ years of experience in ETL programming or Data Analytics.
  • You have professional experience in a healthcare setting (Health Plan knowledge is highly desired; Medicare experience is preferred).
  • You have expertise in most of the following technologies:
    • Snowflake
    • PostgreSQL
    • DBT
    • Python
    • GCP / AWS / BigQuery
    • Data Governance best practices
  • You have expertise with analytics, data science, and BI collaboration tools (e.g., Tableau, Mode, Looker).

A reasonable estimate of the base salary range for this role is $100k to $120k. Final pay is based on several factors including but not limited to internal equity, market data, and the applicant’s education, work experience, certifications, etc.
