The Role

We are looking for a dynamic leader in Corporate Accounting to join our finance team. This role is an excellent opportunity for an accounting professional to be a key contributor in building, designing, and scaling processes in a fast-paced, high-growth environment. You will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the month-end close process, ensuring compliance with US GAAP, serving as the primary point of contact for external auditors worldwide, and own the financial reporting structure. This role will also collaborate cross-functionally with teams across the company, contributing to the continuous improvement of processes and internal controls. A successful candidate should demonstrate exceptional leadership abilities, a solid grasp of accounting principles, and a strong commitment to precise financial reporting.

You Will

  • Oversee the timely and accurate preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements—including general ledger reconciliations and account analyses—in compliance with GAAP and other relevant standards.
  • Build, lead, and develop a high-performing accounting team while fostering a culture of continuous learning and professional growth.
  • Drive cross-functional collaboration to streamline financial processes, implement system enhancements, and lead special projects to boost efficiency and accuracy.
  • Ensure compliance with technical accounting standards, including capitalized software (ASC 350) and lease accounting (ASC 842)
  • Collaborate with Product and Engineering to accurately assess and account for capitalized software costs
  • Assist in managing the treasury function by overseeing bank accounts, subsidiary funding, and vendor/employee payments

The Expectations

In your first 30 days, you will learn all about Cockroach Labs and the team's policies and procedures and systems. We believe that it's essential for you to take this first month to become familiar with our accounting process, finance tech stack, and our company.

After 3 months, you'll be fully integrated into the team and will manage the Corporate Accounting team’s day-to-day operations and month end close procedures, working closely with the Controller.

After 6 months, you will be a thought leader for the Corporate Accounting team in its path to maturity by enhancing or building processes with limited supervision.

You Have

  • Experience building a best in class Corporate Accounting function in a rapid growth environment
  • Strong project management skills, with the ability to multitask, prioritize, and operate effectively in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.
  • A proven track record of building high-performing teams and continuously supporting their growth and development.
  • Ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive business process transformation and change management.
  • Ability to communicate and present financial information to senior finance leadership and external stakeholders
  • Extensive experience in establishing and standardizing policies, processes, procedures, and controls that are SOX-compliant.
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Accounting. CPA required.
  • 7+ years of relevant experience with a mix of public accounting and private industry experience preferred.
  • Experience using NetSuite, Coupa, and Navan is a plus.

Form CC-305

OMB Control Number 1250-0005
Expires 04/30/2026

Why are you being asked to complete this form?

We are a federal contractor or subcontractor. The law requires us to provide equal employment opportunity to qualified people with disabilities. We have a goal of having at least 7% of our workers as people with disabilities. The law says we must measure our progress towards this goal. To do this, we must ask applicants and employees if they have a disability or have ever had one. People can become disabled, so we need to ask this question at least every five years.

Completing this form is voluntary, and we hope that you will choose to do so. Your answer is confidential. No one who makes hiring decisions will see it. Your decision to complete the form and your answer will not harm you in any way. If you want to learn more about the law or this form, visit the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) website at www.dol.gov/ofccp.
