Position Overview

EA Engineering, Science, and Technology, Inc., PBC is seeking an experienced Treatment Plant Operator to support the operation and maintenance of a sophisticated groundwater treatment system at Kirtland Air Force Base.

This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on operator who enjoys solving technical challenges, maintaining complex treatment systems, and working collaboratively with engineers and environmental professionals to support an important environmental remediation program.

The ideal candidate brings experience operating water, wastewater, groundwater, or environmental treatment systems and is comfortable troubleshooting mechanical, electrical, and process control equipment. Experience with environmental remediation systems and SCADA-based operations is highly valued.

Responsibilities

  • Support the continuous operation of a groundwater extraction and treatment system at Kirtland Air Force Base
  • Monitor, operate, and optimize treatment processes to maintain system performance and regulatory compliance
  • Perform routine, preventive, and corrective maintenance on treatment equipment and associated infrastructure
  • Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, and process control issues
  • Collect water samples and maintain accurate operational records and maintenance documentation
  • Inspect, maintain, and optimize extraction and injection wells
  • Assist with the operation and maintenance of pumps, valves, meters, chemical feed systems, and treatment components
  • Utilize SCADA and control systems to monitor performance and identify operational concerns
  • Partner with project managers and engineers to anticipate, prevent, and resolve operational issues
  • Participate in addressing occasional after-hours operational needs

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience operating and maintaining water, wastewater, groundwater treatment, or similar industrial process systems
  • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot mechanical and electrical equipment
  • Experience maintaining pumps, motors, valves, controls, instrumentation, and related process equipment
  • Strong organizational, communication, and documentation skills
  • Ability to work independently and manage priorities with minimal supervision
  • Valid driver's license with a satisfactory driving record
  • U.S. citizenship and ability to access and work on a Department of Defense installation

 

Note:  This position requires specific driving duties. You must be able to pass a motor vehicle records check required by our insurer.

Desired Qualifications

  • 40-Hour Hazwoper Safety Training and current refresher training or able to obtain before commencing work
  • 30-hour Construction Safety Training or able to obtain before commencing wor
  • Ability to perform or manage maintenance of conveyance, valves, controls, metering, chemical amendment, and water treatment system components.
  • Experience with Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) system management software is preferable.

Pay Range

$25 - $40 USD

The EA pay range for this position is intended as a general guideline and does not guarantee specific compensation or salary. Factors considered when making an offer include job responsibilities, education, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities, internal equity, alignment with market data, and compliance with federal and state laws.
