Director, Forward Deployed Strategy

Location: Mclean, VA OR Richmond, VA | Work Environment: Hybrid

We’re looking for a Forward Deployed Strategist Director to lead from the front as a technical translator on our forward deployment teams, working alongside our forward deployed engineers to help enterprise customers rapidly deploy AI-native solutions to complex supply chain and risk challenges, in days, not months. You’ll be accountable for the success of customer implementations with minimal hand-holding, turning vague organizational problems into scoped roadmaps and keeping the customer and our technical team aligned. As an AI-oriented company, we want an adept problem solver who can credibly help customers strategize agentic solutions on some of the most pressing, geopolitically sensitive issues they face.

What You’ll Do

  • Own the Mission & Program Success: Partner directly with customer executives and operators to understand their heaviest operational bottlenecks and translate vague problems into scoped technical roadmaps, delivering clear program plans, surfacing critical risks, and driving mitigations with minimal hand-holding.
  • Technical Translator: Serve as the bridge between the customer and our technical team: communicate customer needs to our forward deployed engineers in terms they can build against, and steer customers toward designs that fit our platform’s capabilities and rules.
  • Align Engineering to Customer Value: Work alongside forward deployed builders to keep engineering effort focused on the customer’s highest-value problems, and coordinate the many internal and customer stakeholders who touch each program.
  • Drive Change & Adoption: Act as a change agent within complex organizations, leading workshops, designing user-centric workflows, and training end users to ensure high adoption.
  • Hands-on Data Analysis: Stay close to the data: inspect customer data structures, validate data integrity, and run rapid prototyping and ad hoc analysis using SQL, Snowflake, Python, and R, and help customers strategize agentic solutions.
  • Product Feedback Loop: Act as the voice of the customer, abstracting client-specific needs into reusable platform capabilities and feeding field requirements back to product and engineering.

What You Need

  • Consulting Experience: 4–6 years in operations consulting (Big Four, Accenture, or similar) or technology operations, including delivering or overseeing technology implementations or deployments.
  • The Hybrid Skill Set: A blend of technical aptitude (computational thinking, data manipulation) and elite communication, storytelling, and relationship-management skills, with the credibility to advise customer executives rather than take orders.
  • Technical Baseline: Proficiency querying and analyzing datasets with SQL and Snowflake, and light scripting in Python and R, plus a solid understanding of how enterprise software, data architecture, and cloud environments operate. You’ll need to be credible with technical counterparts and understand what is being built, but you won’t be expected to build it yourself.
  • Domain Context: Exposure to the defense industrial base or heavy industrial sectors (including through consulting engagements), ideally with highly engineered, long-lead-time products.
  • Ambiguity & Grit: A self-starter who is comfortable in ambiguous, fast-moving environments and under delivery pressure, and who brings structure to chaos.
  • Mobility: US-based and a US citizen, with the ability to travel up to 25% to work directly with customers.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in supply chain risk management (SCRM), or in SCRM combined with compliance (for example, trade, customs, or export compliance advisory).
  • Experience at a technology company in or adjacent to the SCRM and compliance space.

We’re an amazing place to work. Why?

  • Discretionary Time Off for all employees, with no maximum limits on time off
  • Industry leading health, vision, and dental benefits
  • Competitive compensation package
  • 16 weeks of fully paid parental leave

  • Focus on wellness and employee health through stipends and dedicated wellness programming
  • Purposeful career development programs with reimbursement provided for educational certifications
