Senior Manager, Technical Design

The Senior Manager of Technical Design will lead a team of technical designers to execute premium medical apparel from concept through pre-production stage. Technical Design is responsible for developing garment fit, construction, grading, and communication with the vendor base. This role will support the cross functional teams through implementation and maintenance of brand standards for fit, construction, and development. Our Ideal candidate is a strong cross functional collaborator who embraces a growth mindset, champions technology, and leads by example, This role reports into the Senior Director of Technical Design.

What You’ll Do:

  • Establish fit and quality standards for measurement specs, grading, construction details, and on-body standards.
  • Partner with cross functional teams to establish design and fit intent, execute new fit blocks, and drive innovation development.
  • Lead, develop, and mentor a team of technical designers.
  • Build and maintain tech pack data integrity including bill of materials, specs, construction, sketches, etc in Centric PLM to communicate requirements for design aesthetic, fit, and construction to vendor partners.
  • Prioritize and execute daily workload in alignment with GTM deliverables & development timelines.
  • Monitor workflow of all vendors and internal team members to meet GTM calendar deadlines.
  • Lead fit sessions to align on style direction, maintain fit consistency, and establish new silhouettes.
  • Analyze and communicate the outcome of review and fit sessions, artwork reviews, and construction reviews with internal cross functional and external vendor partners.
  • Build and maintain relationships with domestic and international vendor partners through daily communication management.
  • Finalize buy ready tech packs for each season including sketches, artwork, BOMs, final patterns, and size charts.
  • Support the team in style changes, challenges, and solutions at GTM meetings.
  • Manage tracking and approval of prototype samples, strike offs, and testing submits.
  • Develop and maintain tools to deliver consistent fit and high quality construction across product categories aligning to brand standards.
  • Manage seasonal testing processes including wear testing and garment testing.
  • Collaborate with team leaders on cross functional projects to streamline seasonal development.
  • Build and maintain technical design data libraries in Centric PLM.
  • Partner with Product Integrity to creatively solve and prevent quality concerns. 

Qualifications:

  • 10+ Years working as a proven leader within technical design
  • Associates or bachelor’s degree within Fashion Design or Technical Design
  • Prior experience leading and mentoring teams
  • Exceptional knowledge of garment construction, balance and fit, patternmaking, and technical drawing
  • Excellent eye for fit, construction, and detail
  • Excellent communication skills - interpersonal, verbal, written, and presentation
  • Requires strong organization, time management, and follow up skills
  • Experience and passion in 2D and 3D patternmaking software - Gerber PDS/Optitex and Clo/Browzwear
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, Excel, and Google Suite
  • Experience with PLM (Centric preferred)
  • Proven work ethic, positive attitude, and integrity
  • Self-motivated, strong sense of urgency, collaborative mindset
  • Travel experience and able to travel 2X a year

Pay Range

  • At FIGS, your base salary is one part of your total compensation package. This role's base salary range is between $150,000 and $165,000. Actual base salary is determined based on a number of factors, including but not limited to your relevant skills, qualifications, and years of experience.
