Responsibilities

Policy, regulation, trade and advocacy:

  • Define and implement strategies for business to anticipate carbon market evolution and related low carbon fuels and low carbon feedstock uptake across different industry segments (e.g. marine, steel, mining, refining etc.);
  • Be at the heart of the dialogue and influence the outcome on intergovernmental carbon agreements positively impacting Gen’s portfolio of clean hydrogen and ammonia;
  • Act as internal SME for relevant policy provisions (e.g. Shipping ETS, FuelEU, CBAM) and advise on their impact on business.

Carbon Measurement and Emissions Accounting:

  • Ensure the business is meeting its contractual and regulatory obligations with reference to carbon and GHG measurements;
  • Accountability for product compliance, accuracy of GHG accounting for LCA;
  • Work with marketers to ensure full product compliance in key markets of Asia and Europe with local standards;
  • Set up procedures for certifications of product offtake and sales;
  • Ensure business is meeting all reporting requirements, is registered under relevant schemes where necessary to;
  • Manage relationships with third party auditors and verifiers to enhance transparency and credibility in emissions data.

Carbon Portfolio:

  • Input to contracting provisions and standards relating to physical product sales transactions;
  • Input to optimization and value capture between physical product and carbon;
  • Structure value adding products to enhance marketability of Gen’s physical product portfolio;
  • Identify areas to enable optimal product-market fit for current and future production portfolio;
  • Ensure transportation and supply contracts are aligned with carbon goals;
  • Develop and propose innovative carbon market instruments (derivatives) tailored to Gentari’s goals.

Market:

  • Ensure business is appropriately pricing carbon and the differentials between fossil and low and/or zero carbon alternatives;
  • Develop tools for price analytics of carbon in different markets;
  • Ensure access to market as required for any future carbon;
  • Establish a system to track and benchmark Gentari’s carbon products and performance metrics against competitors;
  • Lead the development of predictive models to forecast carbon pricing and demand fluctuations in major markets;
  • Manage the activities relating to purchase of EUAs.

Others:

  • Collaborate with other Group entities to identify synergies and value pockets;
  • Represent business with stakeholders in key industry forums and working groups;
  • Identify Carbon incentive programs that bring benefit to Gentari-wide projects;
  • Contribute to structuring of carbon-capture initiatives for Gentari hydrogen projects including valuation;
  • Interact with Legal, Compliance, Group carbon divisions to ensure consistency in market. At all times ensure the Group's approach to carbon and sustainability activities;
  • Lead different teams within Gentari and align with the Group’s management strategies and ensure cohesive reporting.

 

Requirements

  • Minimum 10 years working in the carbon and environmental markets in both compliance and voluntary markets;
  • Experience of working with and deep knowledge of carbon and emissions regulatory standards and measurement rules for low and zero carbon fuels;
  • Experience in carbon projects, structuring carbon deals and all aspects of commercial and regulatory requirements;
  • Knowledge of carbon regulatory standards and carbon schemes in different markets in Europe and Asia;
  • Sound knowledge of carbon market dynamics, key drivers, accreditation and compliance schemes, and valuation of carbon;
  • Experience of trading of carbon credits, allowances, international carbon schemes;
  • Advanced skills in quantitative and qualitative analysis for carbon portfolio management.
