Gong is looking for an experienced Director of Quality Engineering to join our R&D team and define how quality is managed, measured, and improved across Gong.

In this role, you will strengthen Gong’s engineering-owned quality model by creating the methodology, tooling, standards, and operating rhythm that help engineering teams own quality effectively. You will work closely with engineering leaders to make quality risks visible, improve release confidence, and give teams the practical capabilities they need to ship quickly and safely at scale.

As Director of Quality Engineering at Gong, you will:

  • Define and manage Gong’s quality operating model across R&D, including ownership expectations, release-readiness standards, metrics, and review routines.
  • Build the Quality Engineering methodology and tooling that help engineering teams improve automation, test data, test environments, and non-functional quality.
  • Lead centralized Quality Engineering capabilities, including specialized manual quality validation, AI-assisted Quality Engineering tooling, and automation.
  • Partner closely with Engineering, Product, DevEx, and SRE to turn quality standards into adopted day-to-day practices.
  • Use quality metrics and production feedback to identify weak spots, drive improvement plans, and help R&D leadership make informed decisions.

You should apply if you have:

  • Significant experience leading Quality Engineering (or QA) in a complex SaaS or cloud-based product environment.
  • Strong technical judgment across automation, test architecture, test data, and production-quality practices.
  • Strong operational leadership: you know how to create clarity, define ownership, arrange cross-team work, and drive adoption without relying on heavy process.
  • Experience helping engineering teams improve quality through methodology, tools, standards, and coaching.
  • A pragmatic leadership style, with the ability to create standards that teams actually use.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder-management skills, with the ability to operate well in fast-moving environments.

Bonus skills:

  • Experience with AI-assisted quality workflows, test generation, or regression-selection workflows.
  • Experience with developer productivity, internal platforms, or DevEx-adjacent initiatives.
  • Prior experience as a software engineer, software architect, automation architect, or technical quality leader.

It’s important to note that this is not a traditional Quality Assurance role. The larger part of this role is not to lead our quality control efforts; instead, we are looking for someone to continuously build and improve our quality methodology and toolset, thereby driving up overall quality.
