Under increasing pressure from regulators, investors, customers and employees, businesses—especially small- and medium-sized businesses—are struggling to calculate, report on, and manage down their GHG emissions. 

Green Project’s new Decarbonization Platform empowers corporates, B2B purchasers and private investment managers with a reliable and scalable Scope 3 decarbonization solution. Organizations can leverage our platform to bring affordable renewable energy products (e.g., Energy Attribute Certificates) to their suppliers and portfolio companies, catalyzing value chain emissions reductions regardless of partner maturity and geography. Green Project’s renewable energy products are sourced by our parent company, ACT Group, a leading global environmental commodities trading and advisory firm with 15+ years’ experience building energy markets, and the Decarbonization Solutions Lead will be instrumental in aligning efforts across ACT Group and Green Project.    

Job Overview: Join Green Project as our Decarbonization Solutions Lead and shape a fast-growing climate tech company delivering accessible decarbonization products to companies of all sizes and ESG maturities. 

As a crucial member of our team, you'll: 

  • Design, implement, and optimize organizational processes to drive product evolution and enhance customer operations for Green Project’s Decarbonization Platform 
  • Support Product and Sales leads in conducting customer, market, and regulatory research for product improvement and expansion 

This role will closely engage with Operations, Compliance, and Commercial leadership at our parent company, ACT Group, to drive integration that improves operational efficiency. You will work regularly with Green Project’s Customer Success teams to identify where process improvements can deliver a better customer experience. 

You will be expected to develop a strong proficiency with the Decarbonization Platform and be a resource to colleagues on our platform’s capabilities as well as periodically support product research efforts. 

Responsibilities: 

The Decarbonization Solutions Lead will be responsible for the following work areas: 

  • Process Development and Optimization 
    • Maintain, improve, and document new Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), process maps, and workflow diagrams to ensure efficient cross-team collaboration, including on topics of product delivery, internal approvals, and compliance
    • Lead process improvement projects and subsequent stakeholder communications, including regular trainings and support to ensure smooth adoption
    • Own and refine internal tooling for process implementation, leveraging automation and software, where relevant
    • Identify and resolve bottlenecks affecting customer experience, such as where processes fail, to enact quick resolution as well as longer-term solutioning in close collaboration with Product and Engineering leads 
  • Product Innovation and Customer Success 
    • Drive research into opportunities for product improvement and expansion to increase alignment with Green Project’s commercial objectives and leading sustainability frameworks
    • Coordinate education and resource access for Green Project teams on topics of voluntary and regulatory renewable energy and carbon market developments
    • Build strong proficiency with all Decarbonization Platform capabilities and serve as an internal expert on software functionality 

Requirements: 

  • 3+ years of experience in carbon accounting, sustainability consulting, GHG/decarbonization modeling, or a related field 
  • 2+ year of experience in process development, project management, or product operations 
  • Proven ability to engage cross-departmentally with diverse stakeholders and excitement for collaboration 
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail and a relentless focus on data quality 
  • Strong Excel skills 
  • Familiarity with GHG accounting standards, voluntary renewable energy markets and initiatives (RE100), and voluntary carbon markets and initiatives (VCMI) a plus, but not required 
  • Familiarity with climate-related disclosures (CDP, ISSB) a plus, but not required 
  • Experience with a SaaS-based environmental or sustainability data management provider a plus, but not required  
  • High adaptability and willingness to learn in a fast-paced startup environment 
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills – comfort describing your work at varying levels of sophistication 
  • Passion for the environment, eye for impact, and enthusiasm for Green Project's mission 
  • Undergraduate or Master’s degree in Climate Studies, Environmental Studies, Energy Studies, Business, Finance, Economics, or a related field 

Salary: $80,000-$110,000 base. Actual base pay may vary based on various factors such as location, job-related knowledge, skills, level and experience. The base pay is just one component of the total competitive compensation package for employees.

Remote Work: 

Green Project embraces remote work, with a team of talented individuals located across the US, however all applicants for this role must be within commuting distance of our New York City office, with a preference for 1-2 days in the office per week.
