Distribution and Transport Planning Manager

About The Team:

The Senior Transport Manager has end-to-end responsibility for the transport function, owning the overall P&L, service performance, and strategic design of the transport network. Covering final mile, middle mile, inter-site transfers, and supplier inbound collections, this role is accountable for reducing total transport cost while improving service, efficiency, and customer experience.

This is a senior leadership role combining strategy, network design, commercial management, and hands-on operational management , with responsibility for people, partners, and systems (TMS/YMS)

What You Will Be Doing:

  • Full P&L ownership for the transport function, with accountability for budget setting, forecasting, and cost control.
  • Lead transport network design and optimisation, ensuring the most efficient use of locations, routes, and linehaul.
  • Own the middle mile haulage strategy, including carrier selection, contract negotiation, and performance management.
  • Manage commercial relationships with haulage partners, ensuring service, cost, and compliance expectations are met.
  • Act as the  business owner for Transport Management System (TMS) working together with our global technical teams for development and implementation of improvements.
  • Provide senior management across final mile multidrop routes, intersite transfers, inbound collections, and middle mile haulage.
  • Plan and route our B2C final mile multidrop delivery routes, ensuring optimal route efficiency, cost control, and excellent customer experience.
  • Plan Ex Works supplier collections ensuring robust & scalable solutions including contingency measures 
  • Coordinate intersite transfers to ensure timely and efficient movement of stock between production locations. 
  • Manage and schedule of inbound & outbound collections, working closely with suppliers, carriers and internal teams to prevent site congestion. 
  • Leverage strong UK road network knowledge to plan effective routes and mitigate risks such as congestion, road restrictions, and delays.
  • Lead, develop, and manage the transport team, setting clear objectives driving high performance standards.

Who You Are:

  • Proven experience in a senior transport  management role with P&L responsibility.
  • Proven experience managing and planning multidrop B2C delivery operations with a focus on efficiency and cost control.
  • Strong understanding of UK transport networks, final mile, middle mile, and linehaul operations.
  • Demonstrated success in reducing transport cost through network optimisation, commercial negotiation, and operational efficiency.
  • Experience managing haulage contracts and third-party transport providers.
  • Hands-on experience owning or managing TMS and YMS platforms.
  • Strong people leadership experience, managing managers and teams.
  • CPC qualification

Location: HelloFresh UK, Unit 2, Collaboration Way, Smartparc, Derby, DE21 7HW

Shifts: Sunday to Thursday, 9am to 6pm
