About the Role: What's in the Box

This role is part of HelloFresh's Engagement Tribe, where we turn the HelloFresh app from a weekly subscription-management tool into a food-first daily companion. You'll work directly on the moments that make cooking easier and more fun: finding dinner inspiration, turning a TikTok or Instagram video into a recipe you can actually cook, planning the week with a ready-made grocery list, and cooking step by step with an intelligent cooking assistant at your side. Primary responsibility centers on enhancing the daily app experience to improve customer engagement and retention. You will operate with a high degree of autonomy and fast iteration while leveraging HelloFresh's global infrastructure.

As a Senior Frontend Engineer, you will contribute to key initiatives across our customer-facing mobile app and web experiences, working with a modern React Native / React / TypeScript stack (Next.js on web). You will integrate with our recipe, search, and personalization services, leverage experimentation frameworks, and utilize GenAI tools (such as Claude, Cursor, and Figma) to accelerate architecture, design, and testing workflows. Working alongside machine learning, product, and design experts, you will deliver high-quality frontend solutions, contribute to architectural improvements, and support the evolution of the platform across scalability, observability, and AI-driven workflows.

What You'll Do: The Recipe

  • Design, build, and optimize customer-facing applications using React Native, React, Next.js, and TypeScript.
  • Drive frontend architecture and technical decisions, set direction for platform scalability, and raise the bar through code reviews and mentoring.
  • Lead improvements in how we work: production monitoring, alerting, observability, testing, and release practices.
  • Collaborate closely with Product, Design, and cross-functional partners to prototype, iterate, and deliver seamless user experiences.
  • Champion modern AI tools and workflows across the team to enhance engineering efficiency, code quality, and standards.
  • Initiative Ownership: Ability to lead complex projects end-to-end—translating vision into structured implementation plans and guiding teams through execution to successful delivery.

What You'll Bring: The Ingredients

  • Frontend Mastery: Deep expertise in React and TypeScript, with hands-on React Native experience and a strong track record of delivering production-grade frontend applications, architectural design, and performance optimizations.
  • Collaboration & Ownership: Proactive, autonomous mindset with strong communication skills to explain complex technical decisions, share knowledge, and drive results across domains.
  • GenAI Expertise: Hands-on experience leveraging modern AI tools and workflows (e.g., Claude Code, AWS Bedrock) to increase development speed and elevate technical standards.
  • Observability & Monitoring: Practical familiarity with setting up and maintaining monitoring and observability frameworks in production environments.
  • Product & Design Sense: Strong product and design judgment with the ability to independently prototype and iterate on coherent, high-quality customer experiences.
  • Bonus: Hands-on experience with backend services and APIs (e.g., Node.js, GraphQL, REST, or serverless architectures) to collaborate effectively across the full stack.
  • Nice to Have: Experience with React Native native module integrations, mobile performance optimization, and mobile rendering patterns (e.g., the New Architecture).
