About the Role: What's in the Box

At HelloFresh, Staff Frontend Engineers own customer problems from discovery to delivery, not just tickets. As a Staff Frontend Engineer, you will anchor our customer-facing surfaces. You will turn ambiguous customer challenges into strong technical points of view, validate them with data and customer insights, and use AI tooling to ship high-impact features faster. Your technical depth is your anchor, not your boundary. You will collaborate across disciplines, raise the architectural bar, and keep our frontend platforms fast and reliable for millions of households worldwide.

What You’ll Do: The Recipe

  • Lead the customer-facing surfaces, driving measurable improvements in conversion, activation, and retention.
  • Own customer problems end to end: frame the problem, form a technical point of view, validate it with data and customer insight, and ship it.
  • Work full-stack when the user problem demands it, moving across boundaries to deliver cohesive solutions.
  • Operate what you build: instrument, monitor, and improve frontend performance, reliability, and observability in production.
  • Set the architecture and technical direction for the frontend platform, and make the tradeoffs between user impact and engineering complexity explicit.
  • Partner with product management, design, and analytics to test hypotheses early, prototype quickly, and keep a fast, continuous shipping cadence.
  • Champion AI developer workflows (for example Claude Code, Cursor, or Copilot), set practical standards for agentic coding, and help teams make AI an everyday productivity multiplier.
  • Mentor and grow frontend engineers across squads, and establish best practices for code quality, reusable design components, and scalable frontend systems.

What You’ll Bring: The Ingredients

  • Strong fluency in React Native and familiarity with the full app release cycle, test automation, on device performance, and platform UX conventions.
  • Strong fluency in React, TypeScript, with a solid foundation in web performance and distributed frontend architectures. You have the design taste to ship coherent user experiences without a designer in the loop for early iterations.
  • A strong product mindset. You are opinionated about what should be built and why, and you back that opinion with data and user evidence.
  • Daily, hands-on use of AI coding tools and agents. You understand how contextual prompting, boundaries, and validation shape code quality, and you set guardrails for AI-generated work.
  • A bias to ship and full ownership. You push projects across the finish line and sweat the final twenty percent.
  • Clear, data-grounded decisions. You weigh customer empathy against engineering complexity through rigorous tradeoff analysis.
