The role: What's in the Box

You’ll join our HSE (Health, Safety & Environment) team in Bleiswijk as an HSE Specialist (Veiligheidskundige), helping bring the HSE strategy to life at our Distribution Center and logistics hubs. You’ll be the go-to person for all health, safety and arbo matters on site. Think forklift traffic, manual handling, ergonomics and chilled storage areas, with a large and diverse team working across multiple shifts. Making safety stick here is as much about people and behavior as it is about procedures.

Most of your time will be spent on the floor, spotting risks before they become incidents and working with teams to solve them. Your biggest impact will be on our safety culture: helping people understand not just what needs to be done, but why it matters, so that safety becomes something everyone owns.

What you’ll do: The Recipe

  • Conduct risk assessments, workplace inspections and incident investigations, and follow up on actions with operational teams to keep improving safety performance.
  • Lead root cause analysis on incidents and near misses, and turn your findings into clear, practical procedures.
  • Design and deliver trainings, toolbox talks and awareness sessions that build safety ownership across all teams and shifts.
  • Support managers and team leads in applying HSE policies and staying compliant with Dutch health and safety legislation.
  • Run internal audits and compliance checks, and share findings and progress with the HSE team and site leadership.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to design practical, sustainable solutions for risks and unsafe situations.
  • Be visible on the work floor: listen, observe and empower employees to speak up and take safety into their own hands.

Additional details

  • Work location: Bleiswijk (on-site presence required), with occasional visits to our logistics hubs
  • Work-from-home flexibility: 1 day per week
  • Working hours: Monday to Friday, during office hours

What you’ll bring: The Ingredients

  • A bachelor’s degree with an MVK or HVK qualification, or a background in integral safety (IVK).
  • Experience in a Health & Safety role, ideally in logistics, production or manufacturing.
  • Solid knowledge of Dutch health and safety legislation and risk assessment methods, plus hands-on experience with incident investigation, root cause analysis and internal audits.
  • Strong communication and influencing skills: you motivate rather than enforce, and you know how to bring people along.
  • A hands-on, organized approach: you go to the floor, co-create solutions, and keep priorities clear in a fast-paced, changing environment.
  • Full professional proficiency in English. Ideally, you also speak Dutch at a professional or native level.
