Role Overview

As a Senior Staff Product Manager, Risk, you are the strategic architect of the trust and safety ecosystem at HCP. You do not just manage a roadmap; you define the vision for how we protect money movement, accounts, and communications across our entire vertical SaaS platform. You work horizontally across 20+ product teams to identify systemic vulnerabilities and deliver high-leverage, scalable solutions that neutralize threats without compromising the experience of our legitimate Pros.

You are a technical leader who partners with Engineering, Risk Operations, and Analytics to build durable frameworks for fraud detection, security, and abuse prevention. You excel at translating extreme ambiguity into clear, cross-functional execution plans and serve as the definitive leader during critical incident responses. You move seamlessly between deep technical architecture and executive-level strategy, ensuring that risk mitigation is a competitive advantage for the business.

Our team is passionate, empathetic, hard working, and above all else focused on improving the lives of our service professionals (our Pros). Our success is their success.

What you do each day:

  • Define and evangelize the multi-year risk strategy and roadmap, encompassing payments risk, account takeover (ATO), and platform-wide communications abuse
  • Architect scalable risk capabilities, including universal signals, limit engines, and policy frameworks that serve the entire HCP product suite
  • Lead the most complex, high-stakes cross-squad initiatives to ensure risk protections are integrated into the core product DNA
  • Partner with executive leadership to align on risk appetite, loss targets, and the balance between friction and security
  • Drive the evolution of internal risk tooling and automation to drastically reduce operational burden for the People and Risk Operations teams
  • Lead high-severity incident response efforts, coordinating rapid containment, durable hardening, and executive-level retrospectives
  • Act as a force multiplier by mentoring Product Managers and Engineering leads on risk best practices and system design
  • Conduct rigorous build vs. buy analyses and manage strategic vendor partnerships to accelerate our defensive capabilities
  • Direct the integration of advanced data models and signals into automated enforcement patterns
  • Communicate high-impact strategic proposals and technical documentation to align stakeholders across the organization

Qualifications:

  • 7+ years of product management experience with a proven track record of delivering complex, platform-level systems
  • Deep domain expertise in Fintech, Payments, Trust & Safety, or Security at scale
  • Proven experience driving team efficiency or output quality through the strategic use of AI tools and automation
  • Demonstrated ability to influence at the executive level and lead without authority across dozens of teams
  • Technical mastery of system architecture, event-driven environments, and enforcement mechanisms
  • Advanced data fluency with the ability to define complex metrics and leverage SQL to drive iteration
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, specifically in writing high-quality strategic proposals
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent work experience

What will help you succeed:

  • Fluency of account security patterns such as step-up authentication, device/session risk, and credential stuffing defenses
  • Deep understanding of card and ACH network concepts including chargebacks, payout controls, and ACH return handling
  • Experience building shared platform services like rules engines, risk signal pipelines, and automated policy frameworks
  • Strong intuition for the "Pro experience," ensuring that security measures are elegant and non-obstructive
  • Ability to remain calm and decisive under pressure during emerging fraud attacks or security incidents
  • Experience with vendor evaluation and management for enterprise-grade fraud and risk tooling
  • A proactive mindset that anticipates emerging threats before they impact the platform

Classification of protected categories is as follows:

Form CC-305
OMB Control Number 1250-0005
Expires 04/30/2026

Why are you being asked to complete this form?

We are a federal contractor or subcontractor. The law requires us to provide equal employment opportunity to qualified people with disabilities. We have a goal of having at least 7% of our workers as people with disabilities. The law says we must measure our progress towards this goal. To do this, we must ask applicants and employees if they have a disability or have ever had one. People can become disabled, so we need to ask this question at least every five years.

Completing this form is voluntary, and we hope that you will choose to do so. Your answer is confidential. No one who makes hiring decisions will see it. Your decision to complete the form and your answer will not harm you in any way. If you want to learn more about the law or this form, visit the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) website at www.dol.gov/ofccp.
