The Role:

Imply’s Developer Relations team is committed to inspiring, informing, and involving developers using Apache Druid. We engage with people online and in-person, sharing our expertise and enthusiasm. Whether meeting a data scientist at a start-up or an engineer at an international company, we build lasting relationships and create amazing things together!

Have you used lots of real-time technologies? Do you love researching, testing, and evaluating tools? Do you have a knack for gaining insight from people that others would be hard-pressed to obtain? Are you passionate about the accuracy, appeal, and impact of your work?

Real-time analytics is a rapidly evolving field, and this role will engage your passion and skill to compare and contrast different technologies and architectures. You'll find facts that developers need when they design their pipelines, helping them make informed decisions, enabling you to be an outspoken advocate for functional changes that help the whole Druid community.

Responsibilities:

  • Gather intelligence from Apache Druid users and Imply customers on the tasks real-time analytics pipelines help them complete, and the gains and pain relievers it is delivering.
  • Create and maintain a qualification criteria catalog for real-time analytics databases, including speed, scalability, SQL, and ecosystem synergy
  • Deploy a range of technologies to run well-structured repeatable evaluations and gather results in many different infrastructures and configurations
  • Actively share knowledge with internal stakeholders, acting as a partner in shaping marketing and sales enablement content and programs
  • Influence product roadmaps and open source contributions with the data you collect.
  • Shape educational material to fill gaps in knowledge and give coaching on good practices
  • Stay ahead of the curve on Apache Druid and comparable technologies, becoming a fountain of knowledge on the value of features and fixes, and raising awareness and providing insight into upcoming features
  • Work with support and technical success managers to find and predict emerging needs, proactively benchmarking and testing Imply, Apache Druid, and other technologies

Requirements:

  • Strong experience deploying, designing, building, operationalizing, securing, and monitoring real-time data pipelines, including event hubs, processors, databases, and user interfaces, across both cloud and bare metal
  • Thorough understanding of SQL and its execution on distributed database systems, particularly Apache Druid
  • Experience creating functional testing processes and environments that allow for repeatable and reliable testing, automated or otherwise, against a set of criteria
  • Ability to create and present technical content for developers that inspires, informs, educates, and influences, including Python notebooks, blogs and articles, videos, and slideware

Bonus Points: 

  • Thorough understanding of user experience analysis, experience evaluation, and research, able to describe the requirements of users for real-time data pipelines and articulate them as user stories / feature requests / etc
  • Experience working with sales and marketing teams, understanding the needs of sales engineers, sales development representatives, and account executives to drive pipeline

Individual compensation will be determined based on the candidate's experience and qualifications aligned with Imply’s internal levelings guidelines and benchmarks. The below range encompasses roles with on target earnings. This role is also eligible to participate in Imply’s equity plan subject to the terms of the applicable plans and policies.

Compensation: $123,300 - $300,000
