Senior Engineer, Dexterous End-Effector Design

Santa Clara, CA

About Maven

Maven Robotics designs, builds, and deploys intelligent robotics for logistics and manufacturing. Maven is building the first general-purpose robotics system for industrial work. Our mission is to activate autonomous labor at scale and build toward infinitely elastic industrial capacity. We’re a team of engineers, researchers, and operators who have spent our careers working on the hardest problems in AI, robotics, engineering, and autonomous systems. We work at the intersection of advanced research and real-world engineering, turning ideas into prototypes and deployed systems.

At Maven, we build around the realities of industrial work. The robots are designed from first principles for complex physical environments and rigorous commercial standards. They master real tasks that deliver immediate impact, industrial-grade reliability, and intelligence that compounds at scale. We’re growing an ambitious team of people who think in systems, move quickly, and are builders at heart.

About the Role

In this role, you will own the full product development cycle for dexterous manipulation end-effectors starting with overall architecture and continuing through component selection and detailed design.

What You’ll Do

  • Brainstorm and prototype innovative concepts for dexterous end-effectors ranging from simple two-fingered grippers to multi-fingered humanoid hands
  • Work closely with our business development, simulation, controls, software, testing, and industrial design teams to define use-cases, performance requirements, and packaging
  • Develop high-level strategies and system architectures for dexterous manipulation systems ranging from end-effectors, tele-op training systems, and data collection devices
  • Test and evaluate existing grippers, end-effectors, sensors, and data-collection devices
  • Support assembly, integration, and testing of robotic hardware

What We’re Looking For

  • 5+ years of experience developing high performance robotic systems
  • BS in mechanical engineering, robotics, mechatronics, or similar field
  • Experience designing and developing dexterous manipulation systems
  • Experience with electromechanical integration, including motors, sensors, servo drives, speed reducers, electronics packaging, and wiring
  • Self-starter attitude with strong ability to identify problems, prioritize them, then plan and execute working solutions
  • Enthusiasm for working in a fast paced startup environment and eagerness to support the team on a variety of topics

Nice to Have

  • MS or Phd in mechanical engineering, robotics, mechatronics, or similar field
  • 5+ years of experience specifically developing high-DOF dexterous end-effector systems.
  • Experience designing and scaling complex products for mass production
