Now Hiring: Senior Copywriter

United States

Please note that we will never request payment or bank account information at any stage of the recruitment process. As we continue to grow our teams, we urge you to be cautious of fraudulent job postings or recruitment activities that misuse our company name and information. Please protect your personal information during any recruitment process. While Monks may contact potential candidates via LinkedIn, all applications must be submitted through our official website (monks.com/careers).

This posting is not tied to a current open role, but is an opportunity to join our talent pool for future positions. By applying, you’ll be considered as opportunities that align with your experience that become available.

The Role

We are makers. We create because we are curious, and we believe that the best way to prove an idea works is to make it real.

As a Senior Copywriter, you are the master of the narrative. You operate at the intersection of strategic clarity and creative charm, responsible for translating complex product features and business objectives into language that is instantly clear, deeply human, and undeniably useful.

You are a conceptual powerhouse who partners seamlessly with art directors and designers to build ideas from the ground up. You do not wait for a design file to be handed to you; you help shape the architecture of the experience through words. Furthermore, you represent the modern evolution of the writer: you do not view Artificial Intelligence as a threat to your craft, but as a collaborative tool to rapidly iterate, generate variants, and push your thinking further, faster.

Key Responsibilities

Craft Excellence & Brand Voice

  • Own the Narrative: Write compelling, zero-defect copy across a wide spectrum of mediums—from high-level brand manifestos and broadcast scripts to precise UI microcopy and digital platforms.
  • The Standard Bearer: Ensure every word aligns with our uncompromising standard of excellence. You must possess the restraint to know when to be simple and direct, and the wit to know when to inject charm.
  • Complex Made Simple: Master the ability to distill dense, highly technical information into accessible, engaging stories that resonate with both B2B decision-makers and everyday consumers.

Conceptual Leadership & Collaboration

  • Drive the "Big Idea": Partner closely with Art Directors and Designers to crack the core concept before a single line of final copy is written. You are expected to bring platform-level thinking to every brief.
  • Cross-Disciplinary Partnership: Work fluidly with Strategy to ensure your narrative hits the business KPIs, and with Production to ensure scripts and copy are executable within reality.
  • Present with Authority: Confidently articulate and defend your creative choices in internal reviews and client presentations. You must be able to explain the strategic "why" behind the words.

AI-Enabled Writing & Velocity

  • The AI-Assisted Maker: Actively utilize Large Language Models (LLMs) and GenAI tools in your daily workflow to conquer the blank page, generate high-volume variants for performance marketing, and test conceptual angles at "machine speed."
  • Human Taste, Machine Speed: You understand that AI provides the raw material, but your human taste, empathy, and editorial eye are required to elevate the output to an iconic standard.

Mentorship & Team Impact

  • Guide the Craft: While not a formal manager, you are expected to be a mentor to mid-level and junior writers. You set the benchmark for work ethic, craft, and curiosity on the floor.

Qualifications

  • Experience: 5-8 years of copywriting experience in a top-tier agency or tech-forward creative studio.
  • Versatile Portfolio: A world-class book that demonstrates true range. We need to see conceptual campaign thinking, long-form storytelling, and sharp, functional digital/UX writing.
  • Tech-Native: You understand the digital ecosystem natively. You know how words need to behave on a mobile screen versus a billboard versus a 6-second social ad.
  • AI Fluency: Hands-on experience integrating AI into your writing process. You know how to engineer prompts to get strategic, varied outputs rather than generic fluff.
  • The Maker Mindset: You are deeply proactive, lack ego regarding revisions, and possess a relentless attention to detail (grammar, tone, and formatting).

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

  • Craft Quality: Consistently delivering flawless copy that requires minimal structural revision from the ACD or CD.
  • Creative Velocity: Utilizing modern workflows and AI to increase the speed of iteration and the volume of conceptual options provided during sprints.
  • Strategic Alignment: Writing that directly solves the client's business problem while elevating the brand's perception.

Form CC-305
OMB Control Number 1250-0005
Expires 04/30/2026

Why are you being asked to complete this form?

We are a federal contractor or subcontractor. The law requires us to provide equal employment opportunity to qualified people with disabilities. We have a goal of having at least 7% of our workers as people with disabilities. The law says we must measure our progress towards this goal. To do this, we must ask applicants and employees if they have a disability or have ever had one. People can become disabled, so we need to ask this question at least every five years.

Completing this form is voluntary, and we hope that you will choose to do so. Your answer is confidential. No one who makes hiring decisions will see it. Your decision to complete the form and your answer will not harm you in any way. If you want to learn more about the law or this form, visit the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) website at www.dol.gov/ofccp.
