Senior Principal Engineer Team Lead - Fleet Software Platform

Singapore, Central, Singapore

As the Senior Principal Engineer Team Lead of Fleet Software Platform, you will serve as the engineering leader responsible for the cloud software architecture, edge connectivity, and commercial orchestration backbone powering our global autonomous vehicle fleet. Positioned at the core of our commercial strategy, you will lead an engineering organization structured around an API-first, domain-layered architecture designed to support high-scale commercial mobility operations with world-class partners.

You will lead four integrated engineering pillars across Singapore and the US:

  1. Partner Systems & Integrations: B2B integration surfaces, commercial ride-hailing dispatch webhooks, dynamic operational design domain (ODD) synchronization, and trip matching.
  2. Fleet Orchestration: API-first core platform services, cloud routing engines, immutable configuration management, and automated fleet service/shift scheduling.
  3. Fleet Operations & Experience: Central fleet operations portal, commercial bring-up workflows and remote multi-vehicle field recovery tools.
  4. Vehicle Connectivity & Control: Edge-to-cloud abstraction layers, safety-gated execution APIs, Over-The-Air (OTA) software flashing pipelines, and real-time cabin video/audio streaming infrastructure.

You will own the overall technical strategy, operational availability, software execution roadmap, and organizational growth of the Fleet SW Platform organization, ensuring internal operational tools run as standardized API clients while enabling seamless third-party commercial partner onboarding at global scale.

What you'll be doing:

  • Executive Leadership & Team Scaling: Build, mentor, and lead a high-performing global engineering organization comprising Principal Engineers, Engineering Managers/Team Leads, and Staff/Senior Engineers across Singapore and North America. Foster a culture of technical rigor, accountability, continuous delivery, and operational excellence.
  • Domain Architecture Evolution: Drive the traansition of legacy and partner-siloed services into an API-first, domain-layered foundation. Champion strict separation of concerns, safety-gated command execution, and canonical event streams across offboard and onboard vehicle interfaces.
  • Commercial Launch Execution: Oversee sprint execution and program delivery across critical driverless initiatives, including commercial ride-hail expansions, multi-camera WebRTC streaming, and remote vehicle bring-up automation.
  • Operational Excellence & High Availability: Establish high-availability baselines (99.99% uptime), enterprise observability frameworks, automated incident response, and zero-downtime deployment pipelines across cloud environments.
  • Cross-Functional & External Partner Leadership: Act as the primary executive point of contact for external partner engineering teams and collaborate internally with Autonomous Software, Systems Engineering, Product Management, Developer Platform, and Market Operations teams.
  • Global Support & Operations Coverage: Partner with global engineering leaders to establish continuous escalation coverage and live operational support across North American and Asia-Pacific time zones.

What we're looking for:

  • Engineering Leadership & Organizational Management: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field, with 15+ years of software engineering experience, including 6+ years in direct people management leading multi-team engineering organizations (managing managers, principal engineers, or lead-level managers). Demonstrated track record of scaling teams, developing leaders, and driving organizational accountability through data-driven metrics.
  • Technical Strategy & Architectural Vision: Proven track record of defining long-term technical strategies and multi-year architectural visions for complex, enterprise-grade cloud platforms or distributed systems. Ability to guide engineering teams through platform modernizations, transitioning legacy or partner-siloed systems into decoupled, API-first, domain-layered architectures.
  • Domain Expertise & Industry Track Record: Strong technical and business background with a proven track record in similar high-complexity domains, such as Autonomous Vehicles (AV), Ride-Hailing / Mobility-as-a-Service (MaaS), Telematics / IoT Fleet Management, or large-scale B2B SaaS/PaaS platforms.
  • Operational Rigor & Production Resilience: Track record of driving SLA/SLO baselines, Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) practices, and disciplined on-call escalation models for real-time production systems where downtime directly impacts safety or revenue.
  • Executive & Stakeholder Influence: Exceptional executive presence, communication, and cross-functional leadership skills with a history of aligning technical roadmaps with broader business goals, executive leaders, and global commercial partners.

Bonus points (not required):

  • Strategic experience managing cross-regional engineering organizations and operational escalation rotations across US and Asia-Pacific time zones.
  • Strategic familiarity with edge-to-cloud telemetry protocols, real-time audio/video streaming infrastructure (WebRTC media pipelines), and over-the-air (OTA) software delivery frameworks.
  • Proven experience driving the transition of complex internal operations and partner ecosystems onto a unified platform-as-a-service (PaaS) framework.

Why you should join us:

In this role, you will sit at the intersection of cloud software, robotics, and commercial transportation. Leading an exceptional engineering organization in Singapore, you will define the cloud architecture, orchestration engine, and connectivity backbone that enables commercial autonomous vehicle fleets to operate safely, efficiently, and at global scale. You will partner directly with global industry leaders to shape the future of autonomous mobility.
