Lead Accountant - Order to Cash

Atlanta, Georgia, USA; Portland, Oregon, USA; San Francisco, California, USA

We are a global team of innovators and pioneers dedicated to shaping the future of observability. At New Relic, we build an intelligent platform that empowers companies to thrive in an AI-first world by giving them unparalleled insight into their complex systems. As we continue to expand our global footprint, we're looking for passionate people to join our mission. If you're ready to help the world's best companies optimize their digital applications, we invite you to explore a career with us!

Your Opportunity

In this role, you will serve as the operational bridge connecting financial strategy with global execution. Operating as the primary liaison between Revenue/Finance leadership and the Accounts Receivable (AR) Operations team, you will drive month-end close acceleration and establish governance across global workflows and projects. You will coordinate the end-to-end transformation in Order-to-Cash (OTC) by embedding AI automation, predictive risk engines, and standardized operations into our daily financial reporting cadence.

What You'll Do

1. Global Operational Liaison

  • Project Management: Standardize and accelerate the project timeline, ensuring seamless coordination between cross-functional teams and pushing the projects to closures.
  • SOP Standardization: Document and maintain formal Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for all AR workflows, establishing and designing strict human-in-the-loop validation steps to safeguard financial controls.

2. AI Automation & Process Innovation

  • E2E AI Transformation: Act as the operational lead for implementing agentic and non-agentic automation.
  • Predictive AI Risk Models: Partner with technical teams to deploy the Predictive Account Risk Engine, utilizing billing and consumption telemetry to automatically prioritize collections outreach.
  • Workforce Scaling: Leverage Intelligent Document Processing (IDP) and automated exception-handling tools to streamline repetitive tasks (such as payment auto-matching in HighRadius), allowing the global operations team to scale efficiently.

3. Advanced AR Reporting & Analytics

  • Executive Visibility: Translate complex AR aging, Collections Efficiency Index (CEI), and Days Sales Outstanding (DSO) metrics into high-level liquidity forecasts and risk assessments for leadership. Act as the primary, real-time liaison between the Revenue/Finance leadership team and the AR Operations team to align on data points.

This Role Requires

  • Accounting & Systems Experience: 5+ years of progressive OTC/AR/FP&A experience in SaaS or technology sectors, with hands-on proficiency in NetSuite, BillingPlatform, Zuora, and HighRadius.
  • Global Operations & Data Capabilities: Proven track record of coordinating cross-regional teams, analyzing complex financial data, and building structured variance reports.
  • Leadership & Compliance: Strong cross-functional collaboration skills across Finance, Sales, and Legal, with experience leading teams through process changes in SOX-compliant environments.

Bonus Points If You Have

  • Automation Mindset: Experience implementing financial process improvements, such as robotic process automation (RPA), auto-match logic, or OCR/Intelligent Document Processing (IDP).
  • Responsible AI Governance: Familiarity with corporate compliance guardrails for utilizing Generative AI (e.g., Enterprise Gemini, Claude, etc.) in financial workflows, including data security protocols (PII/MNPI masking).
