Nexamp is looking to hire a Senior Construction Superintendent (SCS). The SCS serves as a critical decision-maker in matters of jobsite compliance, team deployment, subcontractor performance, and adherence to construction standards and policies.

In this role, you will support solar projects in the northern Illinois region. You will report to Manager, Construction.

What you’ll do:

  • Supervise and support 3–12 contingent Construction Superintendents across active solar sites, assigning roles, monitoring performance, and providing coaching in coordination with Agency Partners.
  • Exercise independent judgment to address safety, quality, and compliance issues, including authority to stop work, redirect resources, and mandate corrective actions.
  • Evaluate subcontractor performance in the field and provide recommendations that influence vendor selection, contract renewals, and terminations.
  • Interpret and enforce company policies and regulatory requirements (OSHA, SWPPP, site-specific standards) in dynamic field environments.
  • Oversee onboarding, training, and staffing strategy for site personnel, partnering with Construction Managers on hiring, reassignment, and termination decisions.
  • Monitor project progress, risks, and compliance deliverables, ensuring timely completion of QA/QC documentation and advising leadership on performance improvements and operational strategy.
  • Oversee and report monthly inventory deliveries; track red lines, submittals, equipment, and returns; and coordinate with field teams through regular calls and follow-up to track work completion and escalate outstanding needs.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert on solar construction methods, compliance, and site logistics.
  • Advise senior leadership on operational performance, training standards, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Represent company interests with subcontractors, vendors, and on-site stakeholders.
  • Participate in and significantly influence staffing decisions, including hiring, deployment, and performance feedback.

What you’ll bring:

  • 4+ years of construction management experience, preferably in the solar industry, with a successful track record in project management.
  • Knowledge of OSHA safety standards; OSHA 10 is a minimum requirement.
  • Valid & current driver’s license is required.
  • Procore experience is a plus.
  • Understanding of medium voltage systems and equipment is a plus.
  • Associate’s degree in Construction Management is preferred.
  • Commitment to Nexamp's mission and have a passion for solving tomorrow's climate crisis today.
  • Demonstrated experience in effectively communicating information, ideas, and perspectives with people inside and beyond your organization.
  • Experience in showcasing initiative to make improvements to current work, processes, products, and services across the organization. We value accountability and an ownership mentality.
  • Ability to ask appropriate questions, analyze data, identify the root causes of problems, and present creative solutions.
  • Expertise in building strong internal and external relationships with customers and stakeholders, instilling trust and loyalty across the industry.
  • Eagerness to develop a fundamental understanding of how Nexamp operates and then apply that knowledge effectively to inform business decisions.

If you don’t meet 100% of the above qualifications, but see yourself contributing, please apply.
