Responsible Systems Engineer

nLogic is seeking a Responsible Systems Engineer in Huntsville, AL to join the System Design and Requirements Capability team supporting the Missile Defense Agency (MDA).

 

 

Primary Responsibilities

  • Lead cross-functional systems engineering teams to develop system level technical solutions for the Missile Defense Agency (MDA)
  • Guide the development of system level architecture, requirements, and interfaces to influence incremental capability.
  • Use Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) to evaluate architectural impacts through functional behavior analysis for the defeat of conventional and advanced Threat (i.e., ballistic, aero-maneuvering, hyper-glide, countermeasures, etc.) systems within the MDA mission areas.
  • Use the MBSE environment collaborate to develop system-of­systems requirements via system/component trade studies and analysis and lead the development of Change Notices (CNs) to MDA's system specification including functional, interface and performance requirements, architectural models, interface definitions, and support Trace verification from System to Element level requirements.
  • Develop and deliver products (i.e., technical briefings, CNs) to support internal and MDA stakeholder reviews)

 

Basic Qualifications

  • Currently hold an Active Secret Security Clearance
  • Degree in an engineering classification, mathematics, or physics: Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD
  • The Responsible Systems Engineer must demonstrate a strong technical background in system thinking, architecture development, functional decomposition, and allocation of requirements (performance, functional and interface definition) with system-modelling tools.
  • Candidate must have strong prior experience with use of MSOSA (Cameo) and DOORS and demonstrated knowledge in any of the MDA domain areas, including Aegis Weapons Systems, Ground-based Midcourse Defense (GMD), Glide Phase Intercept (GPI), Hypersonic and Ballistic Tracking Space Sensor (HBTSS), Fire Control, C2BMC, MDS sensors (EO/IR/RF), IAMD (Integrated Air and Missile Defense) Battle Command System (IBCS), Space-Based Interceptor (SBI), Next­Generation Interceptor (NGI), Overhead Persistent Infrared (OPIR) systems, Cruise Missile Defense, Air Defense.
  • The successful candidate must demonstrate the ability to think critically and capture concepts in papers, presentations, and discussions.
  • The individual must possess good communication/presentation skills to communicate concepts and technical approach to customer.
  • The candidate must be capable of working independently, within a small team environment, and work in close coordination with the customer.

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Demonstrated experience modeling or simulating missile defense applications or similar domains (air combat, air defense, intercept of ballistic targets, intercept of non-ballistic targets, space vehicles, sub-orbital mechanics, etc.).
  • Knowledge of ballistic and advanced threat systems (i.e., aero­maneuvering, hypersonic, hyper-glide, countermeasures, etc.).
  • Modeling and analysis experience in aspects of the missile defense system (e.g., Aegis Weapons Systems, Ground-based Midcourse Defense (GMD), Glide Phase Intercept (GPI), Hypersonic and Ballistic Tracking Space Sensor (HBTSS), Fire Control, C2BMC, MDS sensors (EO/IR/RF), kill vehicles, interceptors, countermeasures), Air Defense (RIG-360, EX-BAR, Air Base Air Defense System (ABADS), Cloud Based Command and Control (CBC2), IAMD Battle Command System (IBCS)).
  • Systems engineering experience with large, complex systems.

  • Work Model: Full-Time, Onsite in Huntsville, AL
  • Travel: Minimal
  • Work Hours: Standard work schedule with some flexibility to support customer needs and meetings
