On-Site Safety Lead

O’Connell Electric Company is seeking an on-site Safety professional to support a Substation worksite in Bath, NY. This role is a full-time position expected to last two (2) years, with the possibility of being reassigned to another work location upon completion.

This position will provide on-site safety support five (5) days a week for ten (10) hours a day, averaging between forty (40) – fifty (50) hours per week. The hours will fluctuate based on the project progression. 

The on-site Safety professional plays a vital role in assisting our safety team to ensure a safe working environment for all workers on site.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Implementing and overseeing safety programs, policies, and procedures to minimize the risk of accidents and injuries.
  • Participate in incident analysis record keeping.
  • Create job project-specific safety plans.
  • Identify hazardous conditions and develop mitigation steps.
  • Deliver new hire orientation and safety training.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders on safety-related initiatives.
  • Stay current on industry trends and best practices.
  • Participate in training and career development opportunities.
  • Manage Safety Issues on job site
  • Conduct regular safety inspections and audits on project site.
  • Observe and report on compliance with safety policies and procedures.
  • Participate in safety meetings and briefings.
  • Document safety incidents and prepare reports.
  • Collaborate with project teams to address safety issues proactively

  • Proficiency with Microsoft 365 is required

  • Strong technical aptitude to learn and master company-specific programs is required.

Required Education and Credentials:

  • Minimum of a High School diploma or GED.
  • Basic understanding of applicable safety standards.
  • One to three years’ experience in commercial general and/or electrical construction, or utility safety experience is preferred.
  • OSHA and/or NFPA coursework or certifications is preferred.
  • Ability and desire to obtain safety accreditations such as Certified Safety Professional (CSP,), Construction Health and Safety Technician (CHST) or Certified Utility Safety Professional (CUSP).

Compensation:

The position is an exempt position with a minimum and maximum annual salary that O’Connell Electric Company, Inc. believes in good faith to be accurate for this position at the time of this posting is between $66,500 to $85,000.
