Position Summary:

The Medical Affairs and HEOR, National Account Director, will help build and lead a differentiated national account organization at the intersection of Medical Affairs, HEOR, real-world evidence, clinical science, and strategic healthcare collaboration.

This highly visible player-coach role will personally lead relationships with priority payers, health systems, IDNs, academic institutions, and other national healthcare organizations while recruiting and developing a team of National Account Directors. The individual will create integrated account strategies, engage senior healthcare stakeholders, identify evidence gaps and collaboration opportunities, and bring external insights into enterprise strategy.

Reporting directly to the Executive Vice President of Medical Collaborations, this leader will help strengthen the organization’s national account capabilities by building the team, processes, and best practices needed to support effective Medical Affairs and HEOR engagement, in partnership with existing functional and strategic leadership.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities include the following:

  • Develop and execute integrated strategies for priority national accounts aligned with medical and market access strategies.
  • Build strategic relationships with payer medical directors, health-system leaders, clinicians, health economists, and other senior stakeholders in partnership with and aligned to market access strategies.
  • Translate clinical and economic evidence into meaningful value discussions for access stakeholders.
  • Engage senior clinical, scientific, health economics, payer, and executive stakeholders in high-value scientific and strategic dialogue
  • Identify customer needs, evidence gaps, and opportunities for scientific collaboration and evidence generation.
  • Partner with Medical Affairs, HEOR, Medical–Market Access Strategy, Market Access, Clinical Development, Commercial, and other internal functions.
  • Capture and communicate external insights to inform evidence planning, scientific communication, and enterprise strategy.
  • Build a scalable national account operating model, including account planning, insight collection, engagement standards, and best practices.
  • Recruit, coach, and develop a high-performing team of Medical Affairs and HEOR National Account Directors.
  • Provide executive leadership with regular updates on account priorities, emerging needs, opportunities, and risks.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Ensure all activities comply with applicable legal, regulatory, industry, and company requirements.
  • Maintain appropriate documentation of account plans, engagements, insights, and follow-up activities.
  • Represent the organization at payer, Medical Affairs, HEOR, and therapeutic-area meetings and conferences.
  • Manage relevant budgets, vendors, and external partners.
  • Maintain expertise in applicable disease areas, the treatment landscape, the evidence base, and the evolving healthcare environment.

Qualification Requirements:

  • Advanced scientific, clinical, public health, or health economics degree preferred, such as an MD, PharmD, PhD, OD, MPH, or MS.
  • Significant experience in Medical Affairs, HEOR, real-world evidence, Market Access, strategic accounts, healthcare consulting, or related discipline.
  • Strong track record of engaging, sophisticated stakeholders within payers, health systems, IDNs, academic institutions, or other complex healthcare organizations.
  • Demonstrated ability to translate clinical and economic evidence into meaningful value stories and strategic engagement for access stakeholders.
  • Experience building high-performing teams, developing talent, or establishing new capabilities and operating models.
  • Exceptional executive presence, scientific credibility, communication skills, and strategic judgment.
  • Ability to lead and influence across complex, cross-functional, and matrixed organizations.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset and ability to operate effectively in an evolving environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Deep expertise and established relationships within Retina/ophthalmology, including experience with retina specialists, academic centers, health systems, IDNs, payers, or other stakeholders across the Retina ecosystem.
  • Interested candidates should have a track record of strategic healthcare leadership and a passion for translating evidence into meaningful collaborations and outcomes.

Work Conditions:

  • United States-based remote role.
  • Ability to travel up to 75% before and during launch and approximately 50% thereafter.
  • Travel may include overnight stays, conferences, customer meetings, and occasional evening or weekend commitments.

 

 

Salary Range

$240,000 - $257,500 USD
