Who We Are

Omen AI is building the diagnostic layer for the world’s most critical industrial infrastructure. We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer with high agency to lead the development of our secure backend systems and establish the gold standard for security and compliance within our platform.

The Role

You will be a cornerstone of the engineering team, responsible for building and scaling the backend services that power our industrial diagnostics. This role requires a balance of product minded feature development and deep technical ownership of our security posture. You will own the implementation of security best practices and lead our efforts to achieve critical compliance certifications (such as SOC2) to support our expansion into high-value, sensitive infrastructure environments. You will work closely with our existing senior engineering staff to ensure architectural harmony while taking full ownership of new, independent project workstreams.

Core Responsibilities

• Secure Backend Architecture: Design and build scalable, secure backend services that handle highly sensitive industrial data.
• Security Posture Ownership: Establish and maintain robust security practices, including IAM policies, data encryption at rest and in transit, and secure SDLC processes.
• Compliance Leadership: Lead the technical implementation of compliance requirements (SOC2/ISO) to meet the rigorous standards of our enterprise partners.
• Infrastructure Collaboration: Partner with the existing team to refine our cloud infrastructure, ensuring it is both performant and hardened against emerging threats.
• Engineering Fundamentals: Establish high-quality code standards, technical documentation, and mentorship for future junior staff.
• Technical Strategy: Participate in high-level architectural decisions that align with Omen’s long-term expansion into complex industrial domains.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in Software Engineering, with a significant focus on backend development and cloud architecture.
• Proven experience implementing security controls and preparing early-stage companies for formal compliance audits (e.g., SOC2, ISO 27001).
• Deep expertise in Python or Go for high-performance service development.
• Strong experience with cloud providers (AWS or GCP) and managing secure, distributed infrastructure.
• Expertise in designing secure APIs and managing data privacy in sensitive environments.
• In-office 5 days a week at our SF office.
• High agency, strong judgment, and the ability to maintain composure during production or security crises.
