Senior MFG Engineer
Senior Manufacturing Engineer - NPI
Location: San Francisco (In-person)
Who We Are
Omen is miniaturizing lab-grade spectroscopy into field-deployable embedded
sensors. Our systems deliver PPM-level trace analysis reports on the fluids in
industrial machines and datacenters, allowing us to detect complex wear trends
like bearing failures or coolant contamination in real-time. With this data we can
automatically match anomalies with failure modes weeks to months before
catastrophic failure occurs.
Our team is a tightly knit group of ~20 builders, dropouts, and industry veterans.
We operate on "type-two fun”, the kind of deeply challenging, fast-paced
engineering that is immensely rewarding when you pull it off. We don’t build
things that are good enough, we build things that are 100x better.
The Challenge
We are currently developing two primary systems:
Omen Scout: for closed-loop hydraulic and lubricating oils.
Omen Sentry: for direct-to-chip liquid cooling loops (typ. water/glycol
mixtures).
Our R&D and Test teams have established the core architecture for our sensors,
proving their viability in demanding industrial environments. We are now
seeking a Senior Manufacturing Engineer to lead the transition of these validated
prototypes into high-volume production. In this role, you will serve as the critical
link between our internal engineering teams and our global supply chain
network.
What You Will Do
Design for Manufacturability (DFM): Review and optimize mechanical
and electrical designs for cost-efficiency, yield, and assembly speed.
Supplier Management: Identify, evaluate, and manage relationships with
external vendors, including machine shops, PCB assembly houses, and
Contract Manufacturers (CMs). You will negotiate terms, enforce lead times,
and ensure strict adherence to our quality specifications.
Process Engineering & Supply Chain Mitigation: Resolve complex supply
chain bottlenecks, proactively source alternative components to mitigate
delays, and develop comprehensive internal standard operating
procedures (SOPs) for assembly and testing.
Production Architecture: Establish and oversee our initial low-volume,
in-house assembly lines to validate processes and ensure rigorous quality
control before scaling operations to external, high-volume CMs.
What We Are Looking For
Extensive experience in New Product Introduction (NPI), successfully
transitioning complex electro-mechanical hardware from prototype to
mass production.
Proven track record in vendor management, with the ability to audit
supplier capabilities, mitigate production delays, and ensure deliverables
meet exact specifications.
Deep expertise in DFM/DFA methodologies, with a strong ability to execute
cost-reduction initiatives while maintaining rigorous performance
standards.
Strong mechanical aptitude and proficiency in MCAD (Solidworks) to
effectively collaborate on design modifications with the mechanical
engineering team.
Why Omen?
We take the physics seriously, but we don’t let red tape slow us down. If you want
to own a fascinating hardware problem from the ground up and build something
that protects the most expensive infrastructure on the planet, we want to talk to
you.
