A "Day in the Life" of the Senior Director of Subcontractor Strategy and Development
A typical day for the Senior Director of Subcontractor Strategy and Development is to lead our organization's sourcing and supply chain operations. In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for developing and implementing innovative sourcing strategies, managing supplier relationships, and driving cost-effective and sustainable supply chain solutions.
Overview of Responsibilities
- Develop and execute comprehensive sourcing strategies to optimize our supply chain network.
- Identify and evaluate potential suppliers, negotiating contracts that align with our business objectives.
- Manage the end-to-end contract lifecycle, ensuring compliance and monitoring supplier performance.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to assess and address sourcing needs, capacity planning, and risk management.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers, fostering open communication and collaboration.
- Conduct regular supplier performance reviews and implement improvement plans as needed.
- Identify opportunities for supplier diversification and develop strategies to mitigate supply chain risks.
- Continuously analyze and improve sourcing processes to drive efficiency, cost savings, and operational excellence.
- Implement best practices and leverage technology solutions to streamline sourcing operations.
- Develop and implement sourcing policies, procedures, and guidelines to ensure consistency and compliance.
- Provide strategic direction and leadership to the sourcing team, fostering a collaborative and high-performing environment.
- Manage and mentor direct reports, enabling their professional growth and development.
- Identify training needs and facilitate learning opportunities to enhance the team's sourcing expertise.
What You'll Need to Succeed
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in subcontracting, specializing in landscaping and snow removal.
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
- Proven track record in developing and executing successful sourcing strategies and negotiating favorable contracts.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to make data-driven decisions.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including advanced Excel skills, and experience with sourcing/procurement software (e.g., HubSpot).
- Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain effective relationships with stakeholders at all levels.
- Demonstrated leadership abilities, with the capacity to motivate and develop high-performing teams.
- Experience in creating and implementing sourcing processes, policies, and procedures.
- Franchise experience is a plus.
