Data Consultant (Manager / Senior Manager)

Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced Data Consultant to support the delivery of enterprise-grade data products. This role sits at the intersection of business, data architecture, and engineering, and plays a critical role in translating business needs into well-defined, high-quality, reusable data assets.
The ideal candidate is a self-starter who can independently drive discussions, close gaps in requirements, and ensure data products are designed with clear business value, strong data quality, and end-to-end lineage.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead source-to-target mapping activities, capturing detailed data lineage from source systems through to semantic data models and data products.
- Define, document, and maintain data quality rules in collaboration with data engineers, architects, and governance teams.
- Capture and maintain business metrics and KPI requirements, including maintaining a master metric list to support consistent fact and dimension design.
- Work closely with data architects and engineers to design facts, dimensions, and semantic models that meet business needs.
- Ensure all artefacts adhere to established data frameworks, standards, and templates, and provide constructive feedback to improve them.
- Facilitate workshops and working sessions to clarify ambiguous requirements and bridge gaps between business and technical teams.
- Ensures Jira User Stories are created based on business requirements and data requirements template.
- Articulate the business value of data requirements and challenge stakeholders to provide the level of detail required to build high-quality data products.
- Support the release of data products and data assets, including supporting UAT, validation, and adoption activities.
- Partner with data governance functions to agree calculation logic, definitions, and data ownership within defined data domains.
- Query and analyse data to validate requirements and logic, using SQL and/or advanced Excel.
Required Experience & Skills
- 10+ years’ experience working on data platforms, data products, or analytics solutions.
- Strong experience with source-to-target mappings, data lineage, and semantic data modelling.
- Demonstrated experience defining business metrics, KPIs, facts, and dimensions.
- Strong understanding of data quality concepts, controls, and governance.
- Practical experience supporting data product releases into production.
- Hands-on data skills:
- Advanced Excel and/or strong SQL
- Solid understanding of OLAP, OLTP, and relational data structures.
- Comfortable working in agile or iterative delivery environments.
- Confident communicator able to engage business and technical stakeholders.
Nice to Have
- Experience working on API-backed data products or Lakehouse architectures.
- Familiarity with data governance operating models and stewardship frameworks.
