JOB DESCRIPTION

About the Role:

The Merchandising Manager (MM) will lead the core merchandising strategy across IPSY's key commerce events. The MM is responsible for translating high-level assortment direction into compelling, conversion-driving member experiences, with a focus on achieving sales, margin targets, and broader business objectives. This includes leading the sourcing strategy for core business categories—identifying and securing the right brand and product mix to drive performance, differentiation, and member value.

In close collaboration with Site Merch, Planning, Brand Partnerships Team, Creative, Product Development, and Marketing, the MM will drive execution of best-in-class assortment plans and on-site experiences that surprise and delight members while fueling ongoing growth.The MM will also manage and develop a team of one Merchant and one Merchandising Coordinator—providing strategic guidance, coaching, and day-to-day support to strengthen execution and build future leadership.

This position reports to the Sr. Director of Merchandising and is a hybrid role, based either from our Pembroke Pines, Florida office OR our NYC workspace. (We are open to candidates currently East Coast timezone and planning a relocation to one of these places - please specify in your application if this is the case).

 

What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Charged by our objective to meet revenue and margin expectations, the Merchandising Manager will establish and execute brand, product, and merchandising strategies for the Commerce business 

  • Partner with Planning in managing assortment breadth—identifying opportunities to grow or rationalize categories through qualitative and quantitative analysis

  • Merchandise assortments using best-in-class techniques including product recommendations, exclusives, bundling, cross-sells, and up-sells to drive engagement and AOV

  • Actively communicate assortment and promotional plans to the Senior Director of Merchandising, Site Merchandising Team, Marketing, and other key stakeholders—ensuring alignment, clarity, and seamless execution

  • Guide assortment plans through strategic ranking and forecasting, ensuring sales, margin, and inventory goals support overarching financial targets

  • Partner with Site Merchandising to develop promotional strategies that drive performance and optimize the customer journey, ensuring products are surfaced effectively and ROI is maximized

  • Take an action-oriented approach to manage the weekly business; analyze results, identify opportunities, and make real-time recommendations for events, marketing campaigns, and site experiences

  • Cultivate strong brand partnerships with Brand Partnerships Team to unlock differentiated product offerings, exclusive launches, and strategic commerce opportunities

  • Stay attuned to market trends and consumer behavior, consistently identifying whitespace opportunities, innovation bets, and emerging brand targets

  • Contribute to the development of junior team members and cross-functional partners through mentorship, thought leadership, and collaborative problem-solving

     

What We Are Looking For:

  • 5+ years of Merchandising or Buying experience in the Beauty industry or off-price business model, with a strong track record of driving category growth and achieving margin targets.

  • Strong analytical acumen, with the ability to translate data into actionable insights and strategies

  • Highly organized and detail-oriented, able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment

  • Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal; able to influence cross-functional partners and external brand stakeholders

  • Self-starter with a collaborative mindset, demonstrating urgency, creativity, and accountability in execution

  • Bachelor’s degree required; relevant fields such as Business, Merchandising, or related disciplines preferred

  • Genuine passion for the beauty industry, with a pulse on trends, emerging brands, and consumer behavior

  • Experience leading or mentoring others, either through direct reports or cross-functional project ownership.

Pay is based on several non-discriminatory factors such as experience, education, skills, and location. IPSY offers a bonus, equity grants, and competitive benefits. Final compensation is determined by experience and skills.

Salary Range:

$95,000 - $125,000 USD
