JOB DESCRIPTION

About the Role:

The Lead Maintenance Technician is responsible for managing the flow of work as assigned along with supervising other maintenance technician(s). Duties may involve assigning and managing work relating to insulating; welding; machining; carpentry; inspecting and repairing electrical or mechanical equipment; installing new equipment; and updating the facility infrastructure as required along with other duties associated with the operation of a highly automated 750k sq. ft. fulfillment center.
A successful Lead Maintenance Technician is a motivational leader, responsible for engaging their team and business partners to achieve the highest levels of performance, safety, quality, and attendance.

This position reports to the Facility Maintenance Manager and will be on-site in our Belton, MO fulfillment center.

 

What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Act as the senior Maintenance leader at the facility in the absence of the Facility Maintenance Manager.
  • Track and assign daily maintenance and facility preventative maintenance inspections and repairs.
  • Investigate and dispatch actions to correct all problem calls for facility and distribution equipment.
  • Perform scheduled and daily maintenance on distribution equipment such as, material handling equipment, conveyors, conveyor support equipment etc., to ensure that machines continue to run smoothly, building systems operate efficiently, and the physical condition of buildings is maintained.
  • Perform scheduled and daily maintenance on facility equipment such as, lighting, electrical and plumbing.
  • Perform building maintenance such as painting, drywall patching, light construction, etc.
  • Work with subcontractors and vendors in the testing, maintenance and repairs of fire systems and other regulated systems.
  • Assist in managing 3rd party vendors and contractors.
  • Properly handle distribution equipment regarding; OSHA and safety requirements, hazardous materials, following company policies and emergency procedures.
  • Prepare all department documentation such as, but not limited to work logs, equipment check sheets, preventive maintenance documentation, etc.
  • Communicate major problems, concerns and inoperable equipment information to the Senior Director of Operations, facility partners, and vendors. 
  • Conduct quality assurance inspections on preventative maintenance and repairs completed by facility technicians.
  • Repair or replace defective equipment parts, using hand tools and power tools.
  • Inspect drives, motors, and belts, check fluid levels, replace filters, or perform other maintenance actions, following manufacturers guidelines.
  • Assemble, install or repair wiring, electrical and electronic components, pipe systems and plumbing, machinery, and equipment.
  • Install, replace, or change machine parts and attachments, according to manufacturer specifications.
  • Collaborate with other staff to repair or move machines, machine parts, or equipment.
  • Analyze test results, machine error messages, and information obtained from operators in order to diagnose equipment problems.
  • Lead equipment familiarization and training programs for site technicians.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

What We Are Looking For:

  • Experience performing complex mechanical and electrical repairs in an industrial environment, specifically in a highly automated environment.
  • Experience coordinating work plans through completion for other technicians.
  • In depth knowledge of equipment ,and the operation of, for performing mechanical repairs and preventive maintenance on building  and material handling conveyance systems.
  • Strong electrical troubleshooting and installation experience to include print reading and comprehension.
  • Basic PC skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google products and online manual research.
  • Experience designing and testing continuing improvement projects.
  • Ability to work on-call to support the operational needs of the business.

Physical Job Demands:

  • Exposure warehousing equipment hazards and varying temperatures in fulfillment centers.
  • Flexibility to travel to various fulfillment centers, vendor locations, and corporate office.
  • Regularly required to stand, sit, talk, hear, and use hands and fingers while performing the duties of this job.
  • Light to moderate lifting required.

Salary Range:

$30 - $35 USD
