Senior Product Manager, AI & Data

Remote - United States

You’re Opportunity:
At PLACE, we’re building a category-defining company at the intersection of real estate, technology, business services, and the consumer. As a profitable, hypergrowth startup on the path to an IPO, our standards are high, our team is scrappy, and our commitment is to execute the best work of our lives.

This is YOUR CHANCE to shape the future of AI-powered mortgage technology. As our Senior Manager, Data & AI, you’ll partner with Product, Engineering, Customer Experience leaders, and executives to define and execute an AI product strategy that transforms how lending teams and borrowers interact with the mortgage process. You will own the roadmap across document intelligence, workflow automation, and data-driven decisioning—embedding AI directly into our Point of Sale experience. If you thrive in ambiguity, ship fast, and believe in scaling impact through AI, this is your PLACE.

Who Develops You: Head of Product

What You’re Great At:
You are a builder first and a leader second—a true player-coach who defines direction by shipping, not delegating. You’ve taken AI products from idea to production and understand how to navigate the intersection of data, models, and product constraints to deliver real-world impact.

You are equally comfortable writing a crisp product spec, pressure-testing an ML pipeline with engineers, and communicating tradeoffs to executives. You think in systems—data pipelines, schemas, and model outputs—and you know how to move quickly even when data is imperfect and systems are evolving.

You make pragmatic build vs. buy decisions, balancing speed, cost, and long-term scalability. You’ve mentored technical teams and know how to unlock performance in small, high-impact groups. Above all, you are driven by execution, learning through iteration, and delivering AI solutions that actually work in production.

Must-Have:

  • 8+ years in product management, including 3+ years building and shipping AI/ML products in production
  • Proven track record delivering AI features end-to-end—from problem definition through deployment and iteration
  • Experience leading or mentoring AI and/or data engineers in a hands-on, player-coach capacity
  • Strong technical fluency: comfortable with APIs, model evaluation, and collaborating directly with ML engineers
  • Solid data engineering understanding: pipelines, schemas, data quality, and supporting infrastructure
  • Experience with LLM-based systems (prompting, RAG, document intelligence, etc.)
  • Demonstrated ability to ship quickly, iterate in production, and learn through execution
  • Excellent product craftsmanship: writes clear specs, leads cross-functional alignment, and communicates with executives
  • Strong cross-functional leadership across Product, Engineering, and Customer Experience
  • Data-driven decision maker with clear prioritization discipline and ability to weigh tradeoffs

Bonus if you have:

  • Experience in fintech, mortgage, or other regulated environments
  • Familiarity with designing AI systems within regulatory constraints
  • Experience with cloud AI platforms (e.g., AWS Bedrock, SageMaker)
  • Background in document AI (classification, extraction, verification workflows)
  • Experience with modern data stacks (e.g., Snowflake, BigQuery, dbt)
  • Proficiency with product analytics tools (e.g., PostHog, Pendo, Mixpanel) and SQL
  • Experience scaling an early-stage AI product or engineering function

What You’ll Do:

  • Own and execute the AI product strategy and roadmap across document intelligence, workflow automation, and decisioning
  • Embed AI deeply into the mortgage Point of Sale, enhancing both borrower and loan officer experiences
  • Lead and develop a small team of AI and data engineers, setting direction and removing blockers
  • Partner cross-functionally with Product, Engineering, and Customer Experience to align AI initiatives with the broader product ecosystem
  • Design, scope, and ship AI-powered features from concept through production and iteration
  • Evaluate vendors, models, and tools with a strong perspective on build vs. buy tradeoffs
  • Establish frameworks for AI feature intake, prioritization, and delivery
  • Ensure strong data foundations by collaborating on pipelines, schemas, and data quality
  • Operate with urgency—shipping quickly, learning from production, and iterating continuously

Salary Range: $90,000-150,000/year, depending on experience

Voluntary Self-Identification of Disability

Form CC-305
OMB Control Number 1250-0005
Expires 04/30/2026

Why are you being asked to complete this form?

We are a federal contractor or subcontractor. The law requires us to provide equal employment opportunity to qualified people with disabilities. We have a goal of having at least 7% of our workers as people with disabilities. The law says we must measure our progress towards this goal. To do this, we must ask applicants and employees if they have a disability or have ever had one. People can become disabled, so we need to ask this question at least every five years.

Completing this form is voluntary, and we hope that you will choose to do so. Your answer is confidential. No one who makes hiring decisions will see it. Your decision to complete the form and your answer will not harm you in any way. If you want to learn more about the law or this form, visit the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) website at www.dol.gov/ofccp.
