The Role

We are seeking a driven Business Development Manager to build Connect’s new-business pipeline and close new distribution partnerships. You will prospect into organizations that influence or serve consumers throughout the homebuying, lending, and moving journey, create demand for Connect, and convert that demand into signed business. This is a true hunter role with full-cycle ownership. You will build target lists, develop relationships, create opportunities through personalized outbound outreach, and manage the sales process from first contact through close. After signature, you will partner with Partner Success to ensure a clean handoff and successful implementation before returning your focus to the next opportunity.

  • Prospecting and pipeline creation: Research target accounts, identify decision-makers, develop relevant messaging, and consistently generate qualified meetings and opportunities through phone, email, social outreach, referrals, industry relationships, conferences, and events.
  • Full-cycle sales: Manage opportunities from first contact through discovery, presentations, solution alignment, objection handling, negotiation, contracting, and signature.
  • New revenue creation: Carry a new-business target and convert self-sourced opportunities into signed partnerships that generate measurable consumer volume and revenue for Connect.
  • Partner development: Understand a prospect’s customer journey and clearly communicate how Connect can improve the experience while creating value for the partner.
  • Customer Success handoff: Work with Customer Success and implementation teams to transfer objectives, commitments, stakeholders, and launch requirements clearly after closing.
  • PLACE ecosystem collaboration: Pursue relevant opportunities and warm introductions across PLACE companies and teams while staying focused on Connect’s core sales goals.
  • Commercial rigor: Maintain accurate pipeline, activity, forecasting, next steps, and attribution in HubSpot, using performance data to improve targeting, conversion, and sales-cycle efficiency.
  • Cross-functional coordination: Engage Connect leadership, Product, Operations, Marketing, Legal, Customer Success, and Implementation resources at the right moments to move deals forward.

What Success Looks Like

  • Consistent outbound activity that produces qualified meetings and a healthy self-sourced pipeline.
  • New signed partnerships and closed revenue against an assigned new-business target.
  • Strong conversion across key sales stages through disciplined qualification, follow-up, and deal management.
  • A predictable, well-managed pipeline with accurate forecasting.
  • Clean and timely handoffs to Partner Success with clear commitments, stakeholders, and launch expectations.

What You Bring

  • 3+ years of success in a hunter-oriented business development or B2B sales role, with a demonstrated record of personally creating pipeline and closing new business.
  • Experience selling to or partnering with mortgage lenders, real estate companies, PropTech platforms, home-services providers, or adjacent consumer-focused organizations.
  • The motivation and resilience to prospect consistently, create opportunities from cold accounts, handle rejection, and maintain momentum across a high-activity pipeline.
  • Strong communication, presentation, and negotiation skills, with the ability to clearly communicate a commercial value proposition to a range of stakeholders.
  • Experience navigating multi-stakeholder sales cycles, handling objections, negotiating agreements, and coordinating internal resources.
  • A measurable, analytical approach to pipeline management, forecasting, conversion, and sales performance.
  • Proficiency with HubSpot or a comparable CRM.
