Playfly Sports is looking for a Manager, Email & Digital Advertising to join our team at the University of Toledo.

 

The Manager of Email & Digital Advertising is a key member of the University of Toledo Athletics Ticketing team, responsible for leading and executing digital marketing strategies to drive ticket sales and enhance fan engagement. This role focuses on the planning, coordination, and oversight of digital and email marketing campaigns, with an emphasis on strategic messaging, audience targeting, and performance tracking. The ideal candidate brings a creative mindset, strong organizational skills, and a keen eye for campaign results.

 

WHAT YOU’LL ACCOMPLISH

· Manage the marketing automation components of the Paciolan Contract

· Manage the marketing software, including Eloqua, Alive5, etc. Digital

· Develop and maintain relationships with off-campus representatives regarding any events held at the athletics venues

· Plan, manage, and execute digital marketing campaigns across email, paid social, display ads, and retargeting platforms to promote ticket sales and events.

· Align digital strategy with the overall goals of the ticketing department and larger Athletics brand.

· Work closely with creative and communications teams to develop compelling content, graphics, and calls to action.

· Develop campaign calendars and timelines that support season tickets, mini plans, single-game sales, and special events.

· Lead email marketing strategy for the ticketing department, including list segmentation, content planning, and scheduling.

· Build and manage email campaigns for ticket promotions, game-day information, renewals, and fan engagement.

· Coordinate the setup and delivery of automated workflows (e.g., welcome series, post-purchase messages, win-back emails).

· Conduct A/B testing on subject lines, copy, and send times to optimize open rates and engagement.

· Ensure compliance with email marketing best practices, university guidelines, and NCAA regulations.

· Create customer segments based on purchase behavior, engagement level, and fan demographics using existing CRM and ticketing platforms.

· Leverage marketing platforms and basic analytics to measure campaign effectiveness and fan response.

· Identify new audience opportunities to grow attendance and revenue, including lapsed buyers, families, students, and alumni.

· Collaborate with the ticket sales team to share targeted lead lists and support outbound campaigns.

· Serve as the primary point of contact for digital marketing within the ticketing department.

· Work cross-functionally with athletics marketing, creative, and ticketing teams to coordinate messaging and maximize campaign reach.

· Stay current on digital marketing trends and make recommendations to enhance strategy and results.

· Assist in training student interns or part-time staff on marketing platforms and tools as needed.

· Other job-related duties as assigned

 

WHAT YOU’LL BRING

· Bachelor's Degree in Marketing, Communications, Sports Management, or a related field preferred

· 2–4 years of experience in digital or email marketing, preferably in sports, entertainment, or higher education.

· Proficiency with email marketing tools (e.g., Eloqua) and customer management platforms (e.g., Paciolan, Salesforce)

· Strong organizational and project management skills with the ability to manage multiple campaigns simultaneously with minimal supervision

· Excellent written and verbal communication skills

· Creative mindset with attention to detail and a focus on fan experience and customer engagement

· Experience working in a ticketing or athletics environment

· Familiarity with fan engagement strategies and sports marketing

· Understanding of NCAA and university communication compliance policies

· Ability to speak, hear, and interact verbally with clients, guests, and university personnel both over the phone and in person at the window

· Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, employees, customers, and the general public

· Ability to contribute to the maintenance of good working relationships with all members of the division

· Possess attention to detail, ability to remain calm under pressure, and ability to demonstrate supervisory and leadership skills

· Must be able to problem-solve and make decisions quickly and with knowledge and authority

· Ability to exhibit the highest professional standards and ethical behavior with regard to adherence to the NCAA Conference, University, and the Department of Athletics Code of Ethics and rules and regulations

· Belief that a culture that encourages collaboration, flexibility, equity, and fairness that enables individuals to contribute to their full potential, feel valued, and supported is key to success, personally, professionally, and for the company

· Ability to work evenings, weekends, and/or holidays as required

· Knowledge of Photoshop or other graphic editing software is a plus

· Excellent computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft applications and operating systems

 

TRAVEL, LIFTING, PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

· Available to work athletic events, including home games and special events in evenings, on weekends, and some holidays as required

· The work is typically performed in an adequately lighted and climate-controlled office environment

· May require occasional travel

· The work is sedentary in nature

· Walking, standing, bending, and carrying of light office items are required
