Playfly Sports is looking for a Director of Broadcasting to join our team in Wichita, KS. The Director of Broadcasting position is a key component to the overall delivery of Shocker Athletics sports content to fans. The Director of Broadcasting is responsible for coordinating, planning, executing and evaluating all aspects of Shocker Athletics’ radio broadcasts and outlined ancillary programming including podcasts and digital media components.
SCOPE OF WORK
- Radio play-by-play talent for all home, road and postseason Wichita State Men’s Basketball and Baseball games.
- Schedule talent, manage budget and coordinate payments for back-up talent.
- Coordination of commercial spot log, podcast links, production and operations standards, and media relationship with Audacy radio staff.
- Schedule, prepare, and record Coach’s Show Podcasts for Volleyball, Men’s Basketball and Baseball, in addition to other approved sports’ coach’s podcasts. Upon completion of production link from Audacy Radio, coordinate promotion (digital and institutional) and all approved graphics, text, and links with Shocker Athletics Communications.
- Coordinate talent schedule and podcast upload process for Coach’s Shows for Women’s Basketball and Softball.
- Create and produce revenue-supported content and sellable assets (disseminated by Shocker Athletics MKTG and Communications via Athletics content calendar process) for Shocker Sports Properties including, in-game partner elements, coaches show podcast promotional segments and tune-in messaging, produced videos and digital content (Call of the Game, Series/Game Preview, etc.), contests, and all other sellable assets.
- Create and operate Shocker Sports Properties social media platforms (LinkedIn).
- Collect and disseminate requests via Playfly Creates and Playfly Insights for partner and media-related promotional content.
- Execute any sponsorship elements related to radio broadcasts including recording commercial spots, writing and implementing reads and features, social media features, and any other partner media production.
- Other job-related duties as assigned.
WHAT YOU’LL BRING
- Bachelor's Degree
- 3+ years of play-by-play experience at the NCAA Division I and/or professional sports level.
- Prior sports broadcasting management experience and working knowledge of the business components of the role.
- Excellent communication skills with internal and external stakeholders.
- Professional, engaging, and dependable with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment, focused on revenue generation.
- Familiarity with production and content creation equipment and services including graphic creation, editing, writing, podcast recording, and other digital asset creation.
TRAVEL, LIFTING, PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Ability to attend all home games and travel to all away games for Men’s Basketball, Baseball and other assigned events.
- Ability to lift and carry required broadcasting equipment (50 LBS).
- Office hours and travel schedule to be determined in collaboration with Shocker Sports Properties General Manager.
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
- Annual Salary: $60,000
- Bonus Potential $5,000
- Travel, accommodations, and per diem for competition travel to be the responsibility of Shocker Sports Properties.
