Quantum Solutions Manager, Climate Research Center
Quantum computing holds the promise of humanity’s mastery over the natural world, but only if we can build a real quantum computer. PsiQuantum is on a mission to build the first real, useful quantum computers, capable of delivering the world-changing applications that the technology has long promised. We know that means we will need to build a system with roughly 1 million qubits that supports fault tolerant error correction within a scalable architecture, and a data center footprint.
By harnessing the laws of quantum physics, quantum computers can provide exponential performance increases over today’s most powerful supercomputers, offering the potential for extraordinary advances across a broad range of industries including climate, energy, healthcare, pharmaceuticals, finance, agriculture, transportation, materials design, and many more.
PsiQuantum has determined the fastest path to delivering a useful quantum computer, years earlier than the rest of the industry. Our architecture is based on silicon photonics which gives us the ability to produce our components at Tier-1 semiconductor fabs such as GlobalFoundries where we leverage high-volume semiconductor manufacturing processes, the same processes that are already producing billions of chips for telecom and consumer electronics applications. We also benefit from the quantum mechanics reality that photons don’t feel heat or electromagnetic interference, allowing us to take advantage of existing cryogenic cooling systems and industry standard fiber connectivity.
In 2024, PsiQuantum announced two government-funded projects to support the build-out of our first Quantum Data Centers and utility-scale quantum computers in Brisbane, Australia and Chicago, Illinois. Both projects are backed by nations that understand quantum computing’s potential impact and the need to scale this technology to unlock that potential. And we won’t just be building the hardware, but also the fault tolerant quantum applications that will provide industry-transforming results.
Quantum computing is not just an evolution of the decades-old advancement in compute power. It provides the key to mastering our future, not merely discovering it. The potential is enormous, and we have the plan to make it real. Come join us.
There’s much more work to be done and we are looking for exceptional talent to join us on this extraordinary journey!
Job Summary:
PsiQuantum’s Solutions team is seeking a Quantum Solutions Manager at PsiQuantum’s newly established Climate Research Center in Brisbane to lead and shape projects at the intersection of quantum computing and climate impact. This role presents a unique opportunity to leverage Fault-Tolerant Quantum Computing (FTQC) to create transformative impact in reducing global emissions and unlocking the commercial value of the decarbonization transition.
As part of the Quantum Solutions team, you will collaborate with internal team members and external partners in Australia to identify and develop innovative solutions based on the new capabilities of the world’s first quantum computers across areas such as mining and minerals processing, energy generation, energy storage, clean fuels, and carbon capture. This position is ideal for someone eager to bridge technical expertise, business strategy, and client engagement to drive the success of research and commercial projects. This position offers the opportunity to influence the competitive trajectory of climate technologies via quantum computing, helping to shape development of lower-cost, higher-efficiency solutions.
Responsibilities:
- Identify, evaluate, and prioritize FTQC applications relevant to climate technologies, with a focus on technical feasibility, commercial value, and potential for quantum advantage.
- Lead exploration of use cases of strategic importance to Australia’s economy and geopolitical resilience.
- Analyze the competitive differentiation of FTQC across identified use cases, including market positioning, commercial return, and required go-to-market strategy.
- Collaborate with the global Solutions team and Australia business development teams to develop and support customer projects aligned with technical research goals, including technical pitching and SoW creation.
- Engage with academia and industry stakeholders through initiatives such as the Queensland Decarbonization Alliance to drive joint research projects.
- Serve as the primary project manager for client and partner engagements, ensuring alignment with project charters and delivering valuable results.
- Shape and implement GTM strategy for engaging with Australia-based companies and public sector stakeholders, based on high-potential use cases across chemistry, materials science, and fluid dynamics.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders in Australian climate tech and sustainability ecosystem, including with public agencies, corporates, and research institutions.
- Represent PsiQuantum at industry events, forums, and working groups to showcase quantum computing solutions in climate.
Experience/Qualifications:
- Graduate-level degree in chemistry, chemical engineering, physics, materials science, or related technical field.
- 3-5 years of experience leading complex technical projects in fast-paced environments involving both R&D and commercial stakeholders.
- Extremely strong communication skills with demonstrated experience client-facing technical pitching, project delivery, or proposal writing.
- Strong proficiency in techno-economic analyses, market landscape assessment, and strategic business case development.
- Ability to rapidly gain subject-matter expertise and collaborate effectively across technical and business teams.
- Preferred: background knowledge in mining and minerals processing sector and/or other climate technologies.
- Preferred: familiarity with Australian innovation and climate tech ecosystems.
- Preferred: background knowledge of quantum information theory and/or quantum computing; the willingness to learn is essential.
