Cell Biology Intern
Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly motivated Cell Biology Scientist Intern with hands-on experience in mammalian cell culture, prefer skin cells, to join our dynamic Biological Sciences team. This role involves developing and executing cellular assays to evaluate microbiome-related products and their effects on human cells.
- Location: Onsite, Johnson City TN Manufacturing Plant
- Hours: Monday - Friday
Responsibilities/Essential Duties:
- Develop and optimize cell-based assays using mammalian cells, with a focus on skin cell models (e.g., keratinocytes, fibroblasts).
- Perform experiments using molecular and cellular biology techniques to assess product efficacy and biological impact.
- Cultivate, maintain, and store various human and mammalian cell lines under sterile conditions.
- Measure cellular responses and benefit factors using advanced analytical techniques.
- Design and execute experiments for R&D, product improvement, and extension.
- Manage laboratory operations including equipment maintenance, reagent procurement, and inventory control.
- Maintain detailed and organized records of experimental procedures and results.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Micro Lab and Micro Facility for product testing and development.
Required Qualifications:
- Proficiency in molecular biology techniques: DNA/RNA extraction, RT-PCR, protein analysis.
- Strong experience in mammalian cell culture, especially skin cell lines.
- Ability to optimize cell growth conditions and perform cell-based assays.
- Skilled in aseptic techniques and sterile lab practices.
- Experience managing lab chemicals, equipment, and safety protocols.
- Present scientific data clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences
- Work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
- Support pharmaceutical R&D initiatives as needed.
- Biological Sciences, Biochemistry, Biomedical Science, or a related field.
- Strong organizational and documentation skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
- Willingness to undergo a drug test and post-offer physical.
