Basic Functions:

The Director EHS and Sustainability role includes management and operation of the company’s Environment, Health & Safety (including Environmental Compliance) and Sustainability operations. In this role, you will also be responsible working with third party EPCs and O&M providers for projects in the United States to ensure optimal performance of the company’s solar plants with respect to EHS and Sustainability. An additional element of process development will focus on driving processes development and improvements. This position reports to the VP of Operational Excellence.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Sustain and improve the EHS and Sustainability programs that meets Industry and OSHA standards to ensure our projects and offices exceed expectations and requirements.
  • Continuous monitoring, coaching and incident management needs of our employees and leaders.
  • Ensure compliance with environmental, heath, and safety statutory requirements from agencies such as Federal and California OSHA, EPA, DTSC, and local regulatory agencies.
  • Oversee operational engagements to identify and correct potential environmental concerns to maintain compliance.
  • Continuous monitoring, coaching and incident management needs of our employees and leaders.
  • Develop and lead ESG program.
  • Develop ESG goals; develop programs and initiatives to help achieve goals and establish the correct KPIs to measure performance against goals.
  • Leads the annual ESG Report preparation including information and data gathering, content development and external assurance.
  • Ensures alignment with ESG disclosure requirements and best practices.
  • To design consolidate and review sustainable development data and carry out the reporting.
  • To co-ordinate and implement SB Energy - sustainable development programs like - CSR, Carbon Neutrality, Water Positive, Waste /landfill, Energy Efficiency, Sustainability reporting etc.
  • You will be the Environment and Social leader, fully accountable for the management of Carbon Credits, CSR initiatives and Environment and Social Compliances.
  • Drive process development working with functional leaders and stakeholders. Always looking for continuous improvement opportunities to improve corporate and functional processes.
  • Innovate the process for reporting, investigating, and communicating accidents, hazards, and concerns.
  • Manage EHS and ESG related KPIs and Dashboard.

Job Qualification:

  • Bachelor’s degree or preferably a master’s degree engineering, environmental science, industrial safety management or relevant field.
  • 10+ years of progressive EHS, Environmental Compliance and ESG management experience in multi-location renewable and/or energy construction, 5 years minimum leadership experience.
  • Strong understanding of compliance requirements with applicable local and state discretionary permits and environmental laws, including the Clean Water Act (CWA) (stormwater/erosion prevention/WOTUS), Clean Air Act (CAA) (back up generation emissions), National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) (federal rights-of-way), Endangered Species Act (ESA) (take permits), Migratory Bird Treaty Act (MBTA) (avian impact avoidance), Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA) (hazardous waste), Environmental Planning and Community Right to Know Act (EPCRA) (Tier II reporting), and/or California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA).
  • Regulatory and Environmental Compliance experience preferred.
  • Successfully managed distributed teams.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence at all levels.
  • Project management, root cause analysis problem solving ability.
  • Demonstrated strategic perspective with ability to lead with data and implement with results.
  • Proven experience and leadership in implementing Innovative, EHS and ESG solutions.
  • Strong written and verbal communication and presentation skills.
  • Experience working with a distributed, non-exempt field-based population is highly desired.
  • Knowledge of the Oracle Primavera Unifier tool will be a plus.
  • Travel could be up to 15% of the time.

Location: Redwood City or San Diego, CA; Denver, CO; Phoenix, AZ preferred. Hybrid.

Base Pay-$170000-190000

The pay range mentioned above is a guideline. We tailor each offer based on your unique skills, experience, location, and market benchmarks—while ensuring internal parity across our team. In addition to competitive base pay, total compensation may include a discretionary annual bonus, a long-term incentive plan aligned with our ownership mindset, and a market leading comprehensive health and wellness benefits package.
