THE ROLE

We are looking for an AI Engineer with experience in enterprise SaaS environments, with a focus on Generative AI and Data Science skills. The ideal candidate will have experience designing, building, and training AI-powered services for processing complex data in the life sciences domain.

You will tackle some of our most critical AI challenges:

  • Building robust pipelines for ingesting and processing both structured and unstructured data from diverse life sciences sources
  • Developing and implementing transparent and explainable AI systems that maintain scientific accuracy while delivering insights that medical professionals can trust and act upon
  • Creating domain-specific AI solutions that can navigate the complexity of medical and scientific language with high precision
  • Balancing the power of cutting-edge AI with the need for regulatory compliance and scientific rigor in healthcare applications

The primary languages, services, and frameworks that the candidate would be expected to work with frequently: Python, Jupyter Notebooks, pytest, Poetry, PostgreSQL, Big Query, Vertex AI, Google Cloud Storage, PyTorch, and LLMs within Google's Model Garden. Sorcero is an agile startup on the bleeding edge of current AI advancements, including LLMs, RAG and Agentic Frameworks. Experience with deploying and maintaining LLM-based systems and frameworks used for them (such as LangChain and LlamaIndex) is a bonus, as is the ability to learn new technologies quickly.

The ideal candidate will be a collaborative team player who can execute quickly and thrive in a fast-paced environment. You will be expected to contribute to the decision-making process and influence the design of our services, bringing initiative and a positive, collaborative attitude. Communication skills are critical, as AI engineers are the ambassadors of good AI practices throughout Sorcero.

Keep in mind - this is a challenging domain. We make decisions fast, based on scientific facts, using advanced custom technology. We are not building standard, ordinary applications. Our products are innovative and so is our team. This is a great opportunity for someone looking to contribute meaningfully and learn while having fun in the process.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work with product and delivery teams to assist with the design and development of AI-powered features in our products
  • Model Creation & Training: Create, train and test models that deliver our AI capabilities with a focus on scientific accuracy and domain relevance
  • Model Optimization: Fine-tune, optimize and ground models to ensure they are sound and fit for purpose. Own assignments from proof-of-concept to design, and code delivery to MLOps
  • Product Understanding: Understand our products from both the customer perspective and the engineering perspective
  • AI Advocacy: Actively advocate for improving AI best practices, both internally in the tools and services offered by the AI team, as well as externally in the way the product teams integrate against those services

PERFORMANCE INDICATORS

Success in this role will be measured by:

  • Reduction in processing time for complex scientific datasets while maintaining or improving accuracy
  • Quality of integration between AI systems and product features as measured by customer satisfaction

  • Experience with Large Language Models
  • Experience with common Data Science tooling and packages

Why are you being asked to complete this form?

We are a federal contractor or subcontractor. The law requires us to provide equal employment opportunity to qualified people with disabilities. We have a goal of having at least 7% of our workers as people with disabilities. The law says we must measure our progress towards this goal. To do this, we must ask applicants and employees if they have a disability or have ever had one. People can become disabled, so we need to ask this question at least every five years.

Completing this form is voluntary, and we hope that you will choose to do so. Your answer is confidential. No one who makes hiring decisions will see it. Your decision to complete the form and your answer will not harm you in any way. If you want to learn more about the law or this form, visit the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) website at www.dol.gov/ofccp.
